Well we have just come back from 2 weeks at the fabulous San Marcial in Matagorda and I have to say this is a lovely site. When we booked our holiday with Jet2 we were a little bit sceptical as to the site we had booked, but as soon as we got there all are fears were quickly overturned. When we got there we were given a very warm welcome by the young lady on reception and were told all about things we could do on the island and places to visit then shown to our apartment. Our apartment was number 162, which overlooked the pool with views of the sea on the left and mountains on the right. First impressions we very good not only of the site but of our apartment which was very clean and tidy and had all we needed for a 2 week stay. The San Marcial is a relatively small site compared to others in Matagorda but what it lacks in size it makes up for with charm. The whole site had a great feel about it which was made even better by their amazing staff who were just lovely. The rooms are fairly basic but more than adequate for what you should need and if you're like us who like to be out and about this makes a great base camp. The meals on site are very reasonably priced and so is the beer, there is a small shop just next to the site which you can even access from the pool side. Shop prices are pretty good for what it is and have all the basics you should need. The site is about a 6 minute walk away from the sea front and main dining area of Matagorda. Parking is made easy as there is plenty of space to park a hire car outside of the complex (which also makes life easier). The pools on site are quite big so it never seems to get overcrowded even at busy times and there is a nice little toddler pool for the budding future Olympic hopeful's. There is no entertainment on site but you have to expect that because of what it is. I have to say a massive thanks to all the staff who work ever so hard to make this place special and a truly great stay. So would we go back there again ? That's a massive YES as we loved it there.

we chose a quiet area of the island as this was our first holiday abroad must say was shocked at how nice it was all staff were very pleasant especially bar staff. hotel was spotless our apartment was perfect beds in both rooms were comfortable living room and kitchen had everything you needed for a self catering holiday, shop on site had everything you needed, pool was very clean always sun loungers spare. 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach will definitely be coming back here again

Having a 2 star rating I was a bit apprehensive about these apartments beforehand but once there I was pleasantly surprised at how decent it was,yes our room was a bit dated and could have done with a bit of TLC but our 2 bed apartment was sufficient for our stay with everything you would need for having meals in, although we ate out every night and only used the kettle & toaster. The Pool area was fine and we always had a sun bed when we returned in the afternoon after a day out exploring, some guests were getting up early and reserving beds at 6am though. The apartments are relatively close to the airport so you can hear the planes especially departing aircraft although this didn't bother us and they do stop later in the evening. There's lots of bars and restaurants within a short walk to the front promenade and it's a nice for stroll. Would I book and stay here again? Yes most certainly. If you drive? hire a car from a local company called Cabrina Medina fantastic and the prices are great with everything included.
