“Brilliant staff”

I spent a week at this hotel, leaving yesterday. It's clean, modern and in a brilliant location. The staff are friendly as a whole but no more than Tina on reception who made a real effort from arrival through to me leaving to ensure I was getting the best experience. You can tell the difference between people that do the minimum to meet their job description versus people that are genuinely very helpful people, and she was the latter. Abril on reception was also great and handled a situation really well rather than hiding behind red tape. Although the hotel is great, I think the staff make the real difference in whether you would recommend or visit again and because of the mentioned people, I definitely would. Thanks for looking after me :)

Stayed for 6 days from the 21-27 April rooms were adequate but very small were clean and modern but paper thin walls could here people having a shower and could here people in the corridors all the time might be worth taking e a r plugs if you are a light sleeper rooms were nice and clean mattress is firm not a problem for us but each to there own now my biggest gripe were the shower towels I have given better towels to the local animal shelter they are small thin and rough I would definitely pack my own towel as were the sun bed towels low quality and awful I can only comment on breakfast as we were on a B & B basis so don’t know about the rest of food but breakfast was ok buffet style all the usual stuff eggs continental bacon beans you could always find something the only thing I would say is if you like a proper cup of tea take your own teabags the tea was awful the only other thing which is not a critique just an observation but the hotel is probably 90 per cent German but didn’t bother us would I come again probably not but we booked last minute and it was a cheapie but the resort and beach of peguera was very nice but wouldn’t come back to this hotel

Review We stayed for a week in April (13-20) As 3 adults in 2 Rooms. Reception We arrived at the hotel at 11.45am, check in wasn’t until 2pm and we were aware of this. When we arrived we were greeted by reception staff paid room tax then were told we had to also pay a deposit of 2 euro per a person to get a token which would allow us to get a plastic cup which would be used for our drinks( will come back to this later) we stored our luggage and decided to hang around the pool area then later in the lounge area in the reception. Come 2pm we attempted to check in only to be told our rooms weren’t ready yet and to check back in 10/15 minutes. No apologies given. We came back 15 minutes later and were given our room keys. We noted that guests all had bands on. We had to ask for our bands because they were forgot about. There was a young man on the reception I found him very dismissive and uninterested in helping people. Not a great start to the trip to say the least. We were not given any information about the Hotel at all, no directions to where the restaurant was, what times food was etc. I found the lack of information very disappointing. There was also nothing in the room except a QR code. I was able to access it and got some basic information however I fear older people might struggle with this. Rooms We had two double rooms one with a sea view and the other with a limited sea view. The smaller room with a double bed (Sea View) had a wardrobe, mini fridge and a chair. The only difference for the slightly bigger twin room was a small pouffee stool. The Tv had The Tv had 2 or 3 english channels,I didn’t have a lot of time where I felt the need to watch the TV so wasnt a big deal for me. There was a lack of drawers which was a little disappointing but not the end of the world. There is also a free safe deposit box in the room. (Remember to leave it open when leaving.) The outside balcony had two chairs and a table. There were four lights in the room and two plug sockets in the main room not including the ones being used by the TV and mini fridge. The bed I found very uncomfortable, its very firm and slept like you were sleeping on a sun lounger. Didn’t make for the best night’s sleep. On top of that the walls in the hotel are paper thin, I was privy to next doors call home at 8am in the morning on speaker phone and heard every word from both sides. Also the plumbing means whenever a neighbour goes to the bathroom you are also awakened by the noise. The bathroom was a good size, with a bath with a shower. There was also a hairdryer in the bathroom (Didn’t try it as I had my own travel hairdryer). The bathroom had a marble floor and was tiled. There was a number of cracked tiles and just ware and tear which made it look a little run down. Overall I found the rooms comfortable and welcoming. I had issues with the door keys multiple times over my stay. I think 5 times I had to go back down to reception to get both keys reset. Which became frustrating going up and down, Room Cleaning The cleaners were friendly and attentive. Were quick to clean rooms once people ventured out. The room could be cleaned daily. We found every other day worked for us. They will change towels if you leave the cupboard plaque from your bathroom on your pillow. Hotel Facilities Wi-fi is free and has good access in the main buildings and most the pool areas, there was some times where it was early evening when it would go slower, most likely because of the amount of people using it. Towels On arrival you can pay a 10 Euro deposit for a towel, we choose not to. They seemed very small and dark blue, a number of those seen around the pool seemed somewhat faded. (We had to ask about this - Reception didn’t mention it) There was a pool table in the sports lounge as well as two massage chairs. There was also a mini golf course outside but throughout our stay didn’t see anyone use it. It looked pretty run down. Drinks (10am - 11pm) The token we paid a deposit for could be exchanged for a cup and then each time you went to the bar they switched it for another plastic cup. Apparently to be more environmentally friendly. Honestly seems like it was just to try and stop people getting more drinks as the bars were pretty spread out around the place and it was often a walk back and forth. (We felt somewhat like a toddler carrying our cups around the place) One day we planned to leave the hotel and go for a day trip when we attempted to hand the cups in and get a token back we got told to come back in 15 minutes they might have some tokens. When we explained we planned to leave the hotel ‘Rebecca’ kindly told us to take the cups with us or go across the hotel and down another floor and try another bar. I found this completely unacceptable and very frustrating. Her attitude was very dismissive and we noted this multiple times over the week. At the bar in the main reception area there is a self service hot drinks machine, soda ( Coca Cola, Diet Coca Cola, Fanta Orange, Fanta Lemon, Sprite and Sparkling Water) as well as a juice machine offering Orange, Apple and Multifruit juice as well as cold water. At the downstairs bar by the pool and in the Discotech you could get the same but these were not self service. At the bar you can get your usual variety of locan branded mized spirits, we found the whiskey and spiced rum offered to be one of the best we have had in an All Inclusive package. The lack of juice machine at the Pool area was disappointing, I’m not a big soda drinker and I enjoyed mixing water and juice to make it less strong, the bar staff tried but it was never right. Food The buffet style restaurant was clean and very comfortable, it could get busy at times, but staff were very quick to clean off tables, On entrance you are asked for your room number. The first day the staff member was quite abrupt when we attempted to enter without going over to them and offering it. Once we were never told this was expected of us. After that the staff seemed fine. Breakfast ( Served 7.30am-10.30am) Drinks - Self Service - Hot Drinks, Soft Drinks, Water and Fruit Juices. Food- There was a variety of cereal, yogurts, buns and donutgs on offer. The hot food was bacon, sausage, hash browns, egg (Fried and Scrabbled) as well as toast and pancakes. We found the food at breakfast somewhat disappointing a only ended up going two times in the week stay. Lunch (1pm- 3pm) Drinks - Self service - Soft Drinks, Water, Fruit Juices, Wine. Other drinks were available at a manned bar. Food - Varied day to day, there was always a selection of meat on offer as well as vegetables. There was always a pasta dish on offer as well as chips. There was buns and baguettes offered. There were also a variety of cheeses and meats offered. (Some of the food was luke warm even at the beginning of the serving times) Desserts were also lovely and a nice variety, trifles, mousse and cakes. Only small downside to the cakes was the majority had cream which if you are unable to have it limits your choices a lot. There was also a ice cream machine. Dinner (6.30pm-9.30pm) Drinks - Soft Drinks, Water, Fruit Juices, Wine and Other drinks were available at a manned bar. Food - As with lunch, a variety of meats and vegetables. There was usually one fish dish as well as one soup. There were usually two pastas offered. Meats and cheese were also available. They had some nice options, one night there was mussels, roast chicken, pork, paella etc. Every evening was something different. ( Some of the food was luke warm even at the beginning of the serving times) Desserts - Same as lunch, as well as fruit etc. Snacks - ( 11am-6pm) Snack Bar Reception Bar ( 11am-6pm) They offered hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and a selection of pasta bowls at snack area. As well as biscuits and wafers, we used this more so then breakfast. It was a good variety but the food could be just warm at times. Pools There are 3 main pools outside. The pool on the lower level seemed to be busier option, with the kids pool next to it. The pool was very cold, I watched a few brave souls venture in but they didn’t last very long. The pool on level 0 seemed a little less busy and while we were there it was closed off. There was plenty of sunloungers and umbrellas and there was no need to rush to claim them in the morning. There was also an inside pool, we ventured in one day just to try it out. It was claimed to be heated. It was not, it was pretty cold too. The surroundings for the inside pool were also very dark and gloomy. Another issue was smoking, there is no areas around the pool where smoking is not allowed. We got lovely billows of smoke multiple times from other loungers. The Beach The beach is located towards the back of the hotel and right outside.. At the time of our visit there wasn’t any sunbeds or parasols. There had been a storm recently and there were piles of seaweed when we first arrived by the second day they had been removed. Entertainment Daytime - Throughout the day there are a variety of activities on offer for kids, teens and adults.We didn’t really get involved as we enjoy exploring the local area more then sunbathing at the pool. The animation team are all very friendly and engaging when we did see them. Evening- The animation team led by Danny was amazing. Every evening he would be running around greeting people and letting them know what was going on that night. He was very friendly and could tell he enjoyed his job. Whilst we were their there was two professional shows a Singing act and a dance act both were good. The rest of the week was ran by the animation team, there was a Music quiz, Bingo, Karaoke Night and some others. Seating The main entertainment took place in Discoteque which opened at 9pm, while we were there was no struggle for seating however if it was busier could see it being a issue. The seats were somewhat uncomfortable in this area too. There is a sports bar which had sofas and tables and chairs, sports were on the tvs over the week. There is seating also by the bar and also outside the bar, a lot of smokers outside through made it hard for those who don’t smoke. We did find a non-smoking sitting area a few days in. But it was walk away from the bar and felt very much a after thought. Outside the Hotel Just stepping outside of Hotel and walking along the beach and up a street you find yourself on a long street of shops. There was a variety of shops, bags, souvenirs, clothes, shoes, etc. There was also a good selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. We also found a ticket office on the street offering tickets for shows, trips and boat trips. Magaluf We visited Magaluf for the day, it was worth the day trip and only cost us 14 Euro in a taxi each way. There are buses available but they work out around 4 Euro each so if there is a least 3 of you the taxi is worth it. We went out around 11 and didn’t come back 6ish. Check Out We checked out around 6am as we were getting picked up for our flight. We handed in our keys with little hassle or issue. Staff The Staff at the hotel were varied. The hotel was lovely, clean and tidy and you could see the cleaners working throughout the day to keep the whole hotel sparkling. The room cleaners were friendly and quick to clean rooms to a great standard. The waiting staff in the restaurant were quick and engaging, quickly cleaning off the tables and setting them up for more diners. The bar staff were hit and miss had some amazing staff whereas some others were just rude. The reception staff were the same, some were friendly others seemed to be annoyed by an questions asked. The animation team were great and friendly. Special Mentions I have to leave a special mention for a member of staff who was amazing. Angel on the bar at the pool bar in the evening was amazing. He was so amazingly kind and friendly. He always greeted us with a smile and engaged in conversation. He really made a difference and is a asset to the hotel, if all the staff were like him we would come back without a thought. Conclusion Average hotel with its pros and cons. Pros - Lovely Location / Decent Food Cons - Thin Walls / No Information Would I return? No to put it simple. The paper thin walls and uncomfortable beds really impacted my sleeping. Some of the staff were amazing but others really made the experience less then amazing.
