We had very positive memories of the stay but the holiday felt somewhat marred by the pandemic so we decided to visit again. We booked with jet 2 who are our preferred provider of holidays. We didn't at the time read the reviews. Nearer the holiday I decided to check and they were not great so we set off with some trepidation. This time round we had taken my 74 year old Mum in law and 24 year old son as well as a couple in our late 50's So firstly i have to say the journey through Manchester airport was fab! the last few years its been slow and tedious whereas this time it was fast professional and friendly. There was a slight delay in taking off nothing to do with jet 2 or the airport a passenger had checked someone else's bag in? The crew were as always lovely and the in flight service bob on. Tenerife airport didn't present too much of a problem although the additional queue required following Brexit was a bit tedious. Transport was quick with aircon and comfy seats. So to the Arenas Del mar we arrived to a lovely warm welcome from the lady on reception and the check in was quick and proficient. We had arrived at 12 mid day and the receptionist explained that check in was 2pm but as the rooms were ready she was happy to let us go and unpack before lunch. We walked into the room (same one we had last stay) and it was just as we remembered it although I personally think the art work was new. You walk through the door and a short entrance corridor leads to the sleeping area. The bathroom is placed just off the corridor as you walk in and contains a large walk in shower toilet and bidet along with a sink and large vanity unit. Separating the lounge from the sleeping area is the wardrobe which is large and easily held our clothes. We had taken enough outfits for 10 nights and shorts and tee shorts for during the day. We also had 4 pairs of footwear each too. The lounge contained a Tv sofa another shelving unit with tea and coffee making facilities 2 drawers and a TV. the TV had several English speaking channels which my Mum in law used whilst chilling in her room after sunbathing and before getting ready for dinner. She's a seasoned traveller and declared the room the nicest she had in Tenerife Spain and the Balearics only being beaten by the ones in more distant destinations such as the philopenas and even then not by much. Son declared he was happy with the room and facilities too. Down to lunch we went and the dining room was as we remembered with stunning vistas all round. Immediately to the right is the hot food counter whilst facing and central to the dining area are 3 islands one with breads made salads cold meats, cheese, and salad dressings. You could also on occasion find smoked salmon. The middle island was loaded with delicious sweets cakes and fruit the hot food counter had several choices of vegetables and carbohydrate accompaniments such as rice pasta and potatoes. There was then a hot grill where meat and fish were cooked in front of you. Further on were pasta dishes Pizza and usually 4-5 meals i.e fish in sauces or meats if sauces and stews. You would also find at this point chips. Soups now for me a hotel that can get flavour out of a soup has to be top notch as so many cant. the soups here were delicious with my personal faves being the onion and tomato (not together) Fave main course for us were the salmon in butter sauce Sirloin steak the boys in particular liked the burger and sausage night (they also devoured several puddings every meal time) Pool side had a bar staffed by staff that couldn't do enough for you. This also served snack food. There was no problem getting a sunbed although we moved 4 times until we found the perfect area for us. Being on the sea front there is a breeze that's lovely and cooling and which we all loved but if you don't like a breeze you might want to go further back from the pool and round the corner by the Al A carte Entertainment was hosted by Ratz and Minerva and ranged from Aqua aerobics, fashion shows and Petanque during the day to quizzes, Saxophonists, pianists, and singers in the evening. Good fun was had by all and the ladies did a sterling job. the cleanliness of the whole place was superb. they have a sterling policy in place with measure to help the environment which we appreciated. Room for improvement? Just watch the menus there were a couple of nights where nearly every dish was Pork which I have an intolerance to and is disliked by another member of our party. Also some foods were a little on the cold side like the second of our stay that there were spring rolls. Other than that nope we think you've got it just right! Lastly we had read the reports of the locals across Spain the Balearics and the Canaries not wanting the brits to visit but we actually found the complete opposite we were welcomed most sincerely. Will we return? you betcha. So If you fancy a great stay in a lovely friendly hotel pick Arenas Del mar.

“Love this hotel”

We've visited this hotel previously leaving on the day that the whole world started to shut down for the pandemic. “Adequate but not wonderful”

Views are amazing, had a sea view room which was nice, had to stand up to see the view from the balcony so maybe a clear front would be better.
