“Lovely holiday”

We booked a partial sea view but were upgraded to a full sea view on arrival - always goes down well :-) Staff here are all well trained - polite, friendly and helpful; they always greet you in passing. At this time of year it's definitely a hotel for more mature people 50+. Some guests clearly were on repeat visits. I'm not sure we will return, for no other reason than life's too short! The grounds are well laid out with lots of space to choose your view, whether pool or sea. We tended to go to the sandy bit front left. We put our towels out just before breakfast at 9am and had almost the same spot for the whole 10 days we were there. Staff come around during the day to take orders but are unobtrusive and won't accept tips (hotel policy throughout). Drink prices are reasonable; we had wine every evening with acceptable quality at the cheap end for 13 euros a bottle. There's complimentary cava for breakfast if you're inclined (we were - well, it's a holiday!). Bottled water is also provided in the morning but oddly paid for in the evening. Many couples took bottles away from breakfast to have during the day. We emptied our fridge to fuill with water and tonics bought locally for the duty free! The buffet choice was always extensive, catering for international tastes. In the morning you could have omellettes made to order but mostly food was pre-cooked. The downside there is that it wasn't always hot enough. In addition, there were two bookable specialty restaurants (Fusion & Spanish) with waiter service. We booked these our first night and were able to go to each one twice. At the fusion, he beef fillet was far too salty. Titziano, the maitre d who'd been with the hotel for 20 years, made up for it with a discount on our wine. (staff seem to rotate dutires and functions, as he also served alongisde others at breakfast and in the Spanish restaurant). There was a cabaret every night - solo or group singers. One group in particular was excellent: Legends' - 5 black guys who sang in close harmony. Others were a bit samey, but OK . Friday nights there is a RiU Party at one of the other Rio hotels, with transport and a free bar laid on. Less a party, more a high energy dance cabaret put on by the hotel's animation staff, dressed to the nines, some in bizzaro costumes, with balloons, streamers and bubble machines.That too was excellent if you like that kind of thing - and at 72 and 67 years young, we do!

“Fabulous !”

This was our first stay in a RIU Palace hotel. It was amazing from start to finish. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. This was our first stay in a RIU Palace hotel. It was amazing from start to finish. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful. From cleaning staff, bar staff, dining staff and reception, they would all say hello and welcome you. The room was excellent, larger than other Riu hotels we have stayed in, plus a very large bathroom. The house keeping staff were excellent, they actually come into the room again in the evening to refresh the towels if needed, and put the bed side lights on. The pools and gardens were excellent, we rarely wanted a sun lounger until the afternoon, there was never any problems finding beds. The food and choice was simply 1st class. Just so much to choose from every day. 100% recommend this hotel and would be out first choice if we return to Tenerife.

The RUI makes for a very enjoyable stay, the hotel itself is modern clean and has plenty of facilities and the food is really good, if you've ever been on a decent cruise, similar standard and layout. There are a couple of things though that are a bit annoying; the service in the restaurants can be frustratingly slow at times, the beds are very uncomfortable also 2 singles pushed together. PS very popular hotel with the Germans so if you want a front spot around the adult only pool, be prepared to be up at 7am!

“An enjoyable stay”

This was our 5th visit to this hotel. Hotel location and staff at all levels are excellent. Some food disappointed for the first time although Krystal and the Spanish speciality restaurants are really good.
