“Lovely time as always”

Had a wonderful holiday, and loved the entertainment team especially Andre’s made our holiday so fun and lots to do in the day time round the pool. We’ve been several times and always had a wonderful holiday.

Very nice hotel. Our room was at the back of the hotel (overlooking Av de Uruguay and the cemetery). Apart from the noise during the day that I mention below, it was a good choice and the hotel’s rear face provided a quiet and shaded part of the building, which was nice sitting out after a day in the sun around the pool. The food in the restaurant was a buffet style presentation, which was very good, particularly breakfast. One thing I noted about this hotel was the fact that most of the guests were Spanish, however all of the staff spoke English. Plus points Food in the restaurant was generally very good Pool whilst busy, we always got a sunbed. There was some “towel reserving” but nowhere near as bad as other hotels I have visited. Location was good with shops and bars less than a 5 min walk. The start of the old town was about 10 mins walk away. The prices for the drinks, both at meal times and in the bar were on a par with other bars in the area. Also, as others mention you get a 10% discount if you charge to your room card, rather than paying at the time. If you drink beer, the San Miguel is cheaper than the Stella. Large beer and a gin & tonic was 11.43€ after the discount. Minus Points Only one really and a little outside hotel’s control. The roadworks on Avenida Jaime I. These have closed the whole road and look to be ongoing for 18-24 months. The work was during the day, they are constructing an underground car park. So, when sitting by the pool, it was sometimes a noisy experience. Fortunately, the work did not start until 8:00 - 8:30 and generally finished about 18:00 Mon to Fri. so it did not affect our sleep. No work weekends. One problem however is that since the road is closed, the buses detour, missing out the hotel. Also, taxis are thin on the ground, presumably because they don’t want to get mixed up in the one way system. The fact there has been so much going on, no doubt with changes and additions to the road closures, Google maps showing routes and bus planning does not work accurately at all. We got around using the buses and walking, but it was a learning exercise. A few ideas to play with. The old town is ten minutes walk away and a must visit. Loads of shops, bars and restaurants. When in the old town, go to the Plaça del Castell area. This is the little bit of land that sticks out between the two main beaches. The viewpoint and the little church are worth the detour. The number 02 sometimes calls itself the L2 will take you into the new town, but because of the roadworks, it is a 10 minute walk to a bus stop to catch it. For a look around the new town, from the hotel, walk up the hill, past the road works and continue past the end of the works. The bus stop is on the right, just opposite a petrol station. Catch the No. 02 / L2 (2€ fare), we got off at Av. Mediterrani, 58 and walked through to the promenade and then back to the hotel through via the old town, about 1.5 miles watching the world go by, stopping for a coffee and looking at the shops. A day trip to Altea is quite nice. For this you need to catch the number 10 bus (not shown on google maps). It stops at the large bus area at Av. Mediterrani, 3. You can get here either by walking from the hotel (20-25 mins) or the 02 / L2 drops off at Av. Orts Llorca, 10 front and then a short 5-10 min walk. Another suggestion is to go to the market . This is on Wednesdays and Sundays. Can catch the 02 / L2 and a short walk from the Av. Mediterrani, 44 bus stop. Cross the road and up Av. de Filipinas (walking away from the sea). Getting back to the hotel, it is either walking the mile or so, or we caught the bus, so we walked to the large bus area at Av. Mediterrani, 3 and caught the 03 heading with destination showing as Carrefour Hypermarket (the 03 also stops before this at other stops on Av. Mediterrani). This after setting off goes into the back of the town before making its way to the promenade area. You get off at the bus stop just outside the Hotel Villa del Mar (just around the corner from Corona del Mar), be a bit careful not to miss it.

“Fabulous once again.”

So this hotel has once again been up there as the best. Best staff best food. Clean through out. Quick mention to Victor the pool manager. He just made around the pool a great happy place. Bar staff and reception staff need a pat on the back.. thank you for a great holiday. Xx

“Ok for a week, but not the most lively hotel.”

The hotels location is excellent for Old Town 10 minutes walk, New Town about 30 minutes walk. The hotel itself unfortunately is definitely aimed at the Spanish, all entertainment is in Spanish, which is a shame as our travel agency didn't tell us this. The hotel itself unfortunately is definitely aimed at the Spanish, all entertainment is in Spanish, which is a shame as our travel agency didn't tell us this. The food is ok, what you'd expect in a hotel of this type. The only issue is if you have any food allergies the food doesn't have any labels on to say what it contains. The first few nights I was shown what had ingredients that I can't have by the staff, but after that I had to guess, making eating in the hotel very hard and unenjoyable. The staff especially Victor are wonderful, very friendly. The room is clean and comfortable. The sea view we had wasnt that good, we had a building restricting our view. All in all it's ok for a week, but I don't think we would be back.
