We spent 3 days/2 nights in the River Kwai area and were lucks to stay at The Float House. Great adventure location, swimming (floating) in front of the chalets was exceptional, food was great equally at dinner and beeakfast and service was super. The hotel arranged is an Erawan Park daytrip which was super as well. Highly recommended !

“A superb and relaxing stay”

Sorry for the late review. The arrival here is from the Phu Takien Peir by long pole boat upstream on the River Kwai. Having arrived staff helped us off the boat and also took care of our luggage. Sorry for the late review. The arrival here is from the Phu Takien Peir by long pole boat upstream on the River Kwai. Having arrived staff helped us off the boat and also took care of our luggage. The check in was very straightforward and very soon we were off to out room which was “the first one”. So we assumed it was the first one we came to which would be by the restaurant. Wrong! It was the room at the far upstream end of the place, but absolutely brilliant. Not surprisingly, given its name, all accommodation and facilities are floating and attached to the bank. The room has a large bedroom with a settee to one side. Behind is a wardrobe area and behind that is the bathroom. The shower is outside this but totally enclosed. The toilet is in a separate area within the bathroom with blinds which you may wish to use as on occasions people come up to the end to take photos(!). Outside the room there are sunbeds and chairs. A point worth noting is if you do any washing, in our room, there was an area where the air con unit blows out and so provides a nice drying breeze. The rooms are serviced each day and I have never every seen such immaculated foldered pyjamas in my life. Beyond the room is a further sundeck which is attached to the main room deck but has greater movement than the main room. So it bounces about a bit when a long pole boat goes by taking people to and from the Jungle Rafts upstream, but this is only in the early morning and late afternoons. Mind you I would not leave my tripod and telescope on this. There are activities available, although we did not do any. A set of steps takes you to a nearby village which I did (independently) on two of our mornings there. Breakfast is a buffet, and a very good one, lunch and dinner is by a very extensive menu, you could not possible want for anything more., plus the food was absoultly brilliant. The staff where very friendly and accommodating. As with other places in Thailand we went to many people seem only to stay the one night which means you cannot do justice to the place. The place is situated on the fast-running river Kwai with high wooded hills on either side. On the far bank you can see Water Monitors. A couple of the more obvious birst are White Breasted Kingfisher and Greater Racquet Tailed Drongos. Our 3 nights just flew by.

Wow! What a great experience to stay here in your own floating vllla on the river Kwai. You arrive on a long tail boat from a small pier ten minutes down the river, a nice way of arriving for check in. The hotel, staff and food are all first class here. The location of the hotel is somewhat remote, just a sister hotel a twenty minute walk away up a very steep incline. We did experience a bit of local wildlife in our villa, two spiders and a toad! I guess given the location, that is hardly surprising. This is not a hotel for you if you have limited mobility, surfaces are slippery when wet, the villa and terrace rock violently when local boats pass at speed, there is a very steep, rickety stair case leading up the river bank if you want to leave on foot to explore and you arrive and leave by small long tail boat. We enjoyed our time here, it is a unique experience, one that I wouldn't wanted to have missed. Thanks to all concerned for a great stay.

Firstly, you arrive at the Float House via a longtail boat, complete with your luggage. This is something you should consider if you have mobility issues although the staff are so helpful and load the luggage & help you onto the boat. The hotel itself is charming and the rooms are spacious and comfortable with good air conditioning and a lovely terrace overlooking the River Kwai. The breakfast was great which was surprising bearing in mind the out of the way location. The only aspect that stops this being 5 star is the need for the hotel to invest some money as some of the areas are looking a bit tired.
