I was hesitant to book because of the negative reviews, but I’m glad I did! I only booked a few days but could have stayed longer. I stayed in a deluxe Bungalow, which was slightly expensive, but reasonable value given the high prices on Ko Lanta these days. The room was large, clean, and came with good AC, decent hot water, and regular housekeeping. It’s just a 20-second walk to the beach across a lawn, and the location at the north end of Long Beach is ideal, with plenty of affordable restaurants nearby (well, affordable compared to other beach restaurants but had to the main road for better prices). This isn’t a family-run place, which I do miss, but the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. They did a great job on my laundry and arranged a good motorbike rental at a reasonable price. The WiFi is widespread and fine for general use. It could just about handle remote work like video calls and file transfers. That said, the nearby beach cafes (just 30 seconds away) have much faster connections and let you sit all day for the price of a coffee. Drawbacks: 1. There was no curtain in the bathroom, but I improvised with a sarong. Reception might have fixed it if I’d asked. 2. The deluxe bungalows are semi-detached in clusters of four, so you can occasionally hear neighbours. Families with early-rising kids might disturb light sleepers like me. 3. It lacks a social vibe or common area for guests to meet, which I personally missed. Long Beach and Ko Lanta: Long Beach is pretty, but it caters to more of a package holiday crowd. If you’re seeking the vibe of Thailand 20–30 years ago, head further south on the island. Most of the undeveloped, magical spots have gone, but you’ll find a closer approximation down south.
