There are a lot of hotels I’ve liked but very few I could actually see myself coming back to and JW Marriott Khao Lak is definitely one of them. A lot of that is also thanks to the warm and hardworking people there. We were there in beginning April 2026, the weather was just perfect. The hotel First wow. If you love pools this is your place. Swimming around that huge lagoon style pool was honestly so much fun we absolutely loved it. I highly recommend getting a pool access room we didn’t and regretted it a bit but it was still amazing. The water is super warm almost like a jacuzzi. The rooms are a bit dated but in a way that still feels charming. They are spacious clean and honestly I prefer this kind of local character over ultra modern generic design. The bed was incredibly comfortable. And the ac was really good! The beach is beautiful and clean. We also really appreciated the separation between family and adult areas it makes it much more peaceful. There are lots of free activities like tennis, surf equipment , evening marshmallow grilling on the beach and fun kids beach movies nights. The whole property feels big open and really well maintained. One thing to keep in mind the hotel is quite isolated so you’ll mostly eat on site. Prices are high (almost European restaurant level) but the quality is good. There are some local beach restaurants nearby if you’re comfortable exploring and massages on the beach are also very cheap. We personally mostly stayed at the hotel. The Drift restaurant I loved the food the Wagyu was to die for but the service felt a bit cold overall. We were there for a birthday and while we did get a cake and someone sang it still felt a bit flat no music no real group moment no extra attention. It just felt like the food (even though we had the special signature dish! ) was brought and that was it. No welcome from the chef for example. A bit of a letdown for such a special occasion. That said the young Marianne one of the waitresses was incredibly warm and really made us feel cared for that evening she truly improved the experience. Food wise though really good. The Italian restaurant Honestly the highlight. I didn’t expect to go to Thailand and have some of the best Italian food ever. We went for the buffet and ended up booking it again because it was just that good. The whole atmosphere the team , the pasta bar , the music , the chef everything was amazing. Chef Enzo is so welcoming and passionate it really shows in the food and the energy of the place. The team overall was excellent kind attentive and clearly enjoying what they do. (I loved chatting with the cooks outside , they have awesome recommendation ). We loved every dish. The only regret was not being able to eat more. Highly highly recommend. Beach dinner (special moment) My boyfriend booked a special dinner on the beach for a special occasion and it is honestly now one of the best memories of my life. So romantic so thoughtful and so much care put into every detail. It was just wonderful. The food came from Olive and there was also a very special treatment and attention from Chef Enzo. What can I say except they spoiled us like crazy. There was so much food it was almost too much but in the best possible way. A huge thank you to Baitoey who went above and beyond to organise this surprise with my boyfriend. The preparation was perfect. We were also looked after by the most amazing service team with Poom and Chet. That night felt so warm so special and so full of love it became one of the strongest memories of our whole holiday. Thank you to all three, you truly have a special place in our hearts. Beach bar: The burger was delicious the rest was just okay. I love the people singing there . Thai restaurant: The food was very good but honestly a bit overpriced for Thailand. We loved chatting with the waitress Gum, she was so nice, funny and took really good care of us . Breakfast (small suggestion); This is probably the only real weak point. The breakfast room is chaotic very loud very crowded and feels a bit like a train station. Kids screaming, wondering alone and taking food with their hands, noise everywhere not very relaxing for a 5 star hotel. I know it’s not the hotel fault but this could be definitely improved. It’s great that there is an adult only side to eat but having to go through the family area for food breaks the experience. This part really could be improved by separating the spaces better. Or better two buffets !? What made the stay special there is the people. Honestly the heart of this hotel is the staff: There were some people who truly went above and beyond during our stay and made everything feel extra special: - Poom our waiter ❤️ completely stole our hearts. Always checking in, always kind , always one step ahead with everybody. He made both our breakfasts and our special beach dinner unforgettable. Truly exceptional service. I wish you all the success that you deserve! - Baitoey ❤️ . She helped us organize dinner reservations and even arranged a beautiful surprise beach dinner. So kind,and attentive. Amazing work ! - Maiwan housekeeping our room was always spotless and beautifully prepared. She even remembered our preferences which we really appreciated. - Chet amazing energy and even took beautiful (amazing) photos for us at dinner. Really unforgettable. - The lobby team including Verle were always proactive and welcoming. - Also loved chatting with the activities lady with the 60 cats 😄 - - - Overall this was one of our best hotel stays ever. The mix of beautiful grounds great food especially the Italian restaurant and genuinely warm people made it really special. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you Vanessa & Daniel
