Review for Khaolak Sunset Resort We’ve just returned from our fourth stay at the Khaolak Sunset Resort, and once again, it exceeded all our expectations. This charming, small hotel with a 3-star rating is perfectly located at the quiet end of the beach, offering pure relaxation and serenity. Being just 2 km from the center of Khao Lak, we highly recommend renting a scooter to explore the area freely—it’s a must for any hotel here. We always rent ours from TU Khaolak Travel & Service in town, and it’s the best decision for flexibility and ease. The rooms are spotless, well-maintained, and all offer stunning sea views. Some have larger terraces, while others feature cozy balconies, but every single one has its charm. Breakfast is served à la carte, which we love because it allows us to customize our meal every morning to suit our preferences. A special highlight is the beachfront massage—a truly unforgettable experience with such a breathtaking backdrop. Combine this with the hotel’s fantastic value for money compared to others in Khao Lak, and you’ve got an absolute winner. We’ve stayed in room 1203 every time, and it already feels like our home away from home. Huge thanks to the amazing team for making each visit so memorable. This hotel is very nice even though it always seems to be under renovation whenever we visit. It is all pretty low key and is at the far end of Khao Lak beach with lovely views. We have stayed here several times and like it very much though the facilities are quite limited and unless you are in a beach level room there are many stairs to climb. The restaurant is rather average, rooms are spacious with good views and the staff are very friendly. It is a little bit shabby overall to be honest, but this is reflected in the price which is very reasonable for a beach hotel in this area. Quite a long walk into town, and uphill on the way back. The swimming pool is quite small but always nice and clean and it’s really good to have the pool available when the sea is rough. I really like this hotel and we keep returning most years even though most of the hotels along the strip are fancier.

This hotel has the potential to be fantastic, it’s on the best section of the beach, the sand and sea are fabulous, the sun beds and vivid blue umbrellas make it look like a lovely place to stay. But it needs a complete overhaul, the rooms are huge but very basic, the beds are uncomfortable and they need new pillows and bedding, I slept with a towel on my pillow because it was so old and stained inside the pillow case, I’m open mined about insects abroad in hot weather it doesn’t normally bother me but there’s definitely an ant problem they got into everything. Before I say anymore my expectations where not high as it was extremely cheap and you get exactly what you pay for, the beach is worth a lot more than you pay for, and that’s the frustrating thing, it could be absolutely fantastic with some inexpensive upgrades. Breakfast is fairly basic, you choose off the menu, I had the fruit platter most days which was lovely, and the staff are friendly, but very few people eat at lunch time or in the evening….again frustrating because there’s a beach restaurant and bar close by called the Andeman, it’s heaving everyday, the hotel has an even better location and space for a restaurant and could be just as busy, could be a little gold mine with some cash spent on it. I would gladly pay more to stay here if it was refurbished. I wish I was rich I’d buy it lol.

“Used to be 4 star now only 3 star”

Check 8n was slow. We arrived at 2.40pm and the room was still not ready. Finally they gave a room and before we even went into the room they had to change again yo another room due to some aircon technical issues. No food available. You need to go to town for your food. Maybe it's the low season.… more

Maybe it's the low season. Morning check out the staffs have not arrived yet. But there was a night guard to collect the keys. Room was OK. A bit dated. Room door have to use key to lock. Best was the shower. The water was really strong. Love it. Beach looks OK. But the waves was very strong. Conclusion I think it has seen it's better days.
