Finding The Natural Place was a bit of challenge but fortunately I had the address printed in Thai and the tuk tuk drivers near Robinsons Department store knew right where to go. The property is about 2.5 km from Robinsons and down a winding alley-street inhabited by local residents. The property is inside a fenced compound and if you miss the sign it would be easy to drive by it. At check in the only staff were Cambodian nationals that had no working knowledge of English or Thai, so check in was conducted by hand signals and a written script in English. They charge a 500 BHT deposit on the key, which is returned upon check out. The neighborhood is about 1/2 km from Sukumvit Road and was very quiet both during the day and at night. The service, aside from the initial language barrier, was very good. The manager (who does speak English) was happy to arrange for either tuk tuk or motor bike transportation for shopping expeditions or upon check out and was very pleasant to deal with. The facility appeared to be of recent vintage and while simple in design and construction, was immaculately clean. The building really is an apartment building that rents units on a short term basis. The corner room was spacious and bright with two shallow balconies facing in 2 directions. The king bed had a very firm but comfortable mattress with adequate bedding. The bathroom was of a good size and thoroughly modern can sparkling clean. The only drawback was that hot water did not work even after attempts to reset it. I brought this to the attention of the manager upon check out and she promptly investigated and said that it worked for her. Once I found it, I enjoyed The Natural Place. It would be a great place to stay for extended stays, particular if you had your own or reliable ground transportation. It is a bit of a commute to the pier to Ko Sichang but tuk tuks and taxis are abundant at Robinsons with also serves as a drop off point for local and regional buses.
