Paradise bay is perfection! I did a lot of research before coming to the Exumas and found this little gem of cottages located steps from the most gorgeous beach. It’s about 15 mins from the airport, so about a $35 cab ride away. It’s not on travel sites so it’s not easy to find and book but it’s so so worth it! Yes, you book through email and a signed contract and pay through Zelle or PayPal but it is legit. Cedric was super responsive and helpful when we had questions closer to our trip. We booked a one bedroom (Abaco).The rooms are very spacious and extremely clean. We had a mini fridge and coffee maker. We brought our own coffee and filters after reading review recommendations so we could set ourselves up each morning but you could walk steps to the restaurant if you didn’t want to DIY. The bed was huge and NOT made up of two beds pushed together which is always uncomfortable. We had cleaning service each day. There are few amenities but we didn't feel like we needed much. You can have the restaurant fill a water bottle or give you cups of ice and water at no charge if needed. People complaining about a fridge not having items in it probably shouldn’t come to the Exumas. They provide shampoo, shower gel, soap, hair dryer as well as shower and beach towels. They had a dresser and two night stands so you can unpack if you prefer. There is a desk and some club chairs with a table to eat at if you wanted. There are large windows with black out curtains you can open to feel the sea breeze. Each cottage has a bench with a table to sit out front on your cottage deck and enjoy the view. They even have little door stops so you can open your door and see the ocean from your bed! The toilet is separate from the shower and sink on the other side of the cottage which was unexpected but we quickly got used to it. The ceilings are insanely high and just gorgeous made of thatched wood. We thought they were so beautiful. An odd thing to notice probably but worth a mention. The Cocoplum restaurant on site was so delicious and some of the best meals we had in the island. Yes it’s pricey but everywhere on the island is so it’s comparable and really good food for the cost. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and can do takeout so you can eat right on the beach! I’m not sure why people said service was slow on other reviews we never felt that way ever. They say you need a reservation for dinner but we walked in a few times and didn’t have a problem. Eva’s place is a cafe across the street, open at 7am until 8pm and has good breakfast sandwiches and twist donuts that we quickly grew obsessed with. The water is absolutely gorgeous and the beach only ever had a few people on it at a time. People staying on the island elsewhere would come here to take photos. It’s so nice that they haven’t built up this area and you sometimes feel like you are there all by yourself enjoying the most beautiful view. They have palapa umbrellas with lounge chairs and tables. These are first come first serve but you will have no trouble finding a spot. Most of the time only half the chairs were being used. They are also super spread out between guests so you have a lot of space. It’s so nice they don’t have any vendors walking the beach trying to sell you anything. We went in March and it was breezy so it kept us cool and the water was a little too cold but it was still a nice option to cool down when needed. The pool is tiny and less breezy if you wanted to hang up there they have chairs and loungers as well. There is a tiny beach bar at the resort open daily from 2-8 that’s really close to walk up to when you want a cocktail or beer. Peninsula bar (not part of the hotel) is located up a flight of stairs at the end of the beach. We went up after Audren (bartender) waved to us while we were trying to figure out if it was open. He was a super sweet guy. We got a beer here but never got to try any food. Beautiful view overlooking the ocean. We did rent a car after reading so many recommendations to do so. We grabbed a few things from Bowes convenience store about two miles down the road and drove to dinner spots twice as well as Georgetown for a water taxi ride to the peace and plenty beach club and chat n chill. We definitely didn’t need the car everyday and wished we had only rented for half our stay. R&R&D rentals was so easy and the cheapest price we found on the island. They just dropped the car off at the hotel and we didn’t even meet with anyone. Just completed all paperwork before and after through WhatsApp. The Exumas is very laid back and everywhere you go is not luxury or trying too hard to be something it’s not. We loved this about the island but it may not be for everyone. It’s not a resort where they are working for your tips (service charge is already included in your bill) or trying to get you to spend money. Everyone is kind and very courteous and just genuinely wants you to have a relaxed enjoyable time. We will definitely be going back as soon as we can. We’ve been to many places with gorgeous beaches but feel we have found our new paradise. Thank you to everyone at the resort for making this such a special place.
