We’ve just arrived back after a week stay at the Kulube Hotel. I’m not one for returning to the same place twice but this is definitely a hotel I would come back to. The hotel is in a quiet location and is perfect for a relaxing holiday. The hotel feels quite exclusive with its stunning views from every tier and friendly, attentive staff. The onsite spa is a real treat. I had a heavenly Japanese head spa and my husband and I enjoyed a couples Turkish bath. The girls at the spa are caring and professional. An absolute must if you want to enhance your experience with a bit of pampering. The breakfast was fresh and light with a small selection of pastries, cold meat, cheese and fruit as well as an omelette station. The lunch and evening menus available at the hotel are very nice and reasonably priced. A short and cheap (approx £5 including tip) taxi ride takes you to a vibrant and pretty town and harbour where the choice of restaurants and bars is excellent. All the food we ate was delicious and acceptable prices (I would say comparably priced with the uk but better quality and service). A few things to consider about the hotel and perhaps a couple of negatives (which don’t warrant knocking off points). Steps!! There are so many of them! I would advise that this hotel is not for anyone with mobility issues. We managed to get this holiday at an absolute bargain price so we were not expecting much from our room. I was right to think that way as our room really wasn’t great. It was tired and basic, with minimal furniture. Nowhere to do your hair and make up, broken hairdryer… and at the very top of yet more steps in the annex. Our room had a beautiful view but a tiny balcony where you couldn’t even put a chair on as it was so small (not that we had a chair in the room anyway!). So we couldn’t enjoy the view to its fullest. I appreciate that you don’t go on holiday to spend it in the room but I do like to enjoy a cuppa in the mornings and watch the sunrise so this was a bit disappointing. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in any of the rooms so next time, I would bring a travel kettle etc. The bed!! I can only describe as a medieval torture device!! That said, the room has the basic requirements of effective air conditioning, a small fridge, adequate bathroom and it’s clean. From speaking with other people at the hotel, it can be a bit pot luck with the rooms as I understand that there are some newly refurbished rooms with improved facilities. If it’s within your budget, I would recommend upgrading your room. A big bonus for us is that hotel staff love their animals. The 2 gorgeous dogs and several cats are well looked after and loved and feel part of the family. The small negatives really don’t warrant less than 5 stars for this hotel as it’s an absolute gem and I will definitely return next time I’m looking for a bit of R’n’R in Turkey.

I’m sitting at the Kulube Hotel, on my last morning, having just had breakfast, overlooking the beautiful bay and feeling so sad to be leaving. This is only a 3 star but more like a boutique, high end 5 star hotel. It’s small, friendly, family run hotel in the most stunning location. It’s built into the hillside, lots of steps going down the hill to the restaurants and beach but don’t let that put you off. Our room was brand new, modern and exceptionally clean, as we found the entire hotel. It’s peaceful, serene and we often had the beautiful pools to ourselves. There is waiter service to sunbeds, wherever you choose to spend your time. The breakfast is buffet style, traditionally Turkish but healthy, plenty of fruit, cheeses, meats and salad as well as omelettes made to order. No British bacon, eggs etc in site. The food for lunch or dinner is lovely quality and not expensive. The staff really look after you and can’t do enough. The hotel is not going to be suitable for people wanting loud music playing around pools or wanting staff organising activities or needing entertainment as there is nothing like this at the Kulube. But, if you want peace, quiet and relaxation in a stunning setting where the sweet scent of hibiscus greets you in the morning, you will love it. If you want to venture out, reception will order taxis to take you into Kalkan at £3 each way. There’s plenty of night life here, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Another added bonus of the Kulube, for anyone wanting to scuba dive, there’s a 5 star PADI school next door. Overall, really sad to be going home today but will come back soon, like lots of others. There are lots of people I’ve met on their 2nd or 4rd stay here which speaks volumes. Well done Kulube and thank you for a beautiful week!

Visited Kalube Hotel at the end of September and this is our perspective! Positives - the views from this hotel are without a doubt spectacular and its biggest asset. An authentic property with nice grounds. Always lots of sunbeds and plenty of space around pools and the sea area. First class service at breakfast and the couple of times we stayed in for dinner. Food good. We had a lovely room - bed a bit hard but not a deal breaker. Housekeeping excellent. NEGATIVES - Found the sun beds hard and uncomfortable. Would advise bringing a portable cushion. Nearly all staff on their phones all the time at any opportunity. Surprised this hasn’t been mentioned in previous reviews. The staff although inoffensive would sit for hours on end on their phones especially around the bar area when sometimes it was hard to get their attention to order drinks despite the area being practically deserted. Empties etc and mucky tables left unattended for long periods of time. No drinks service at your table around bar / pool / beach area which is unusual for this part of the world. Staff members playing videos on their phones and FaceTiming for hours on end without earphones. When this happened on a third consecutive day around the bar area we did complain and it did stop while we were there. Just wanted quiet drinks in the bar enjoying the lovely views. Management really need to think about elevating the guest experience - it would also surely make business sense to offer a proper drinks service and keep the staff off their phones, looking after guests and keeping areas clean and tidy.

The room we were given was old and dated needs serious refurbishing. Had to ask the cleaner on several occasions for fresh bedding and towels as neither were changed four days into our 10 night stay. The staff at reception and the bar were very nice and friendly always willing to help. The views from the hotel are stunning and having its own beach club has its advantages. Definitely not walkable into town but taxis are cheap and easy to get.
