“Old Town magic!”

We choose to stay in Old Town instead of one of the newer all-inclusives on the beach. And yes, without a doubt old town has it's challenges but we loved it. Family owned, the staff go above and beyond to ensure that everything is right. The rooms are spacious - ours had a fantastic balcony overlooking the water, they are clean and when I mentioned I was allergic to cats, they did their best to keep them out of our area. We drove and getting in and out of old town was challenging, however parking was easy. Breakfast was absolutely delicious on the top deck. We would definitely return.

“Memorable stay”

We came her in May for one night. The staff are very heartily friendly and hardworking. We felt very welcome here. The room has a spectacular view and is very clean and tastefully furnished. To this, the balcony is huge with a bigger view. Breakfast was served to the table and it was wonderful. Until departure by taxi and the very last minute within this hotel we enjoyed the stay a lot. We will try to return to this very special place very soon again.

“Great location, but not so great bathroom facilities.”

I visited Antalya in May 2024, and wanted to experience the charm of living in the old town. Villa Tulipan was one of the more promising choices - it had above average reviews, was reasonably priced, and, more importantly, was located in the heart of Kaleici. Unfortunately, it was not the perfect stay I had in mind. I was particularly disappointed with the bathroom facilities. There was this nasty sewage smell eminating from the bathroom drains. Thankfully, I was out most of the day but I would imagine this would be an unpleasant experience for those wanting to laze in their hotel rooms. I learned that this was due to the poor plumbing infrastructure that plagues many buildings in this area, and this is not a trivial problem to solve. Nonetheless, I felt more could have been done to make this issue bearable, such as providing stronger bathroom scents and air purifiers, for example. The bathroom's cleanliness was also not up to standards. I found used plastic packaging and hair in the shower area. Another issue I had was with my room's shower heater. The water temperature would fluctuate wildly even though the heater knob was not touched. One moment hot water, then cold water the next. Barring these issues, the hosts' hospitality was the saving grace during my short stay here. They were friendly and helpful in providing information about the area, including things to do and must-see sights. I will give a special mention to the resident kittens that roam freely on the hotel's ground floor. I especially appreciate the effort put into the room "themes" and hotel's decor. There is also a rooftop terrace for those looking to enjoy scenic views of the marina. If you can look past the bathroom issues that were highlighted, then you will find that Villa Tulipan is actually quite a quaint, charming location to stay in. Overall, I thought my stay here was functional, at best. Great location close to many of the old town's attractions, but could definitely do better in terms of providing a more quality stay.

This is a family-run hotel where the staff make an extreme effort to accommodate the guests - and they get 5-stars for service. The included breakfast is a broad array of delicious and fresh dishes. The hotel is in the midst of the "Old Town" which means finding and reaching it by car is more than a bit challenging. The good news is that they have free parking spaces (which most hotels in the Old Town don't) True, it is near restaurants and bars - which means they played loudly amplified, not always good, music into the night right across from our room. There are no phones in the room We found a cat locked out on our balcony and had to shoo it through our rooms. The room didn’t have a safe so the reception guy brought one up, laid it on a table and then opened it with the master code before politely turning his head when I put my PIN on it. I figured it was just as safe to keep our valuables in the bottom of one of our suitcases with the $1.95 combination lock. While the walls were freshly painted and the bathroom walls freshly tiled, I think the not-great appearance of the floors, the low lighting level and the ad-hoc thrift shop appearance of much of the furniture made a poor impression. Some of the hotel’s issues are beyond their control. The entire Old Town area seems to suffer from the noise pollution of bands playing in bars (some hotels even have their own bands making noise). None of the hotels we saw had an elevator/lift, so unless a room is on the ground floor, if stairs challenge you, then this neighborhood is not for you.
