“Sunstar beach hotel”

I came to this hotel for 8 day's with my sister the food was amazing and the staff was lovely and the reps we're so friendly and so much fun ozgur, ramazan and sonjil. Will deffo be coming back.

The reviews of this hotel had me worried, however, this is a fair review for those looking to book. The transfer time from Antalya airport was 3 hours, however they do stop at a service station to get some food and toilet break. My suitcase had been left in the UK, however Lost & Found at the airport told me they’d get it sent over and deliver it to the hotel. We had a late flight meaning we didn’t get in to the hotel until 2am, however was greeted politely and helped with our case to our room. The hotel is dated, needs some tlc and the rooms were basic, but I didn’t pay 5* prices so expected to be realistic. Over the course of our weeks holiday, every member of staff was nothing but polite. The maid (although our sheets weren’t changed nor provided clean towels) was happy to help when asked. The receptionists supported in contacting the airport about my lost luggage and our ‘rep’ helped us book excursions (the shopping trip was expensive so please look elsewhere for ‘designer goods’) (the boat party was amazing). He books you in to see him when you arrive. The food was edible. Not to our British taste necessarily, however, we were in Turkey so of course it’s not going to be like it is here. Breakfast wasn’t great. Eggs a plenty however we lived on the pancakes and chocolate spread (which was lovely). Lunch; we enjoyed the burgers, chicken and fries from the food bar by the pool (up the stairs) but teatime was brilliant. Lovely food, plenty to eat so NO! You won’t starve. The stand out for us was the entertainment. The DJ and the female entertainer were fantastic. Whilst there, we did aqua aerobics, water volleyball, dancing by the pool in the day, plenty of dancing and singing of an evening, we had shows from a belly dancer and traditional Turkish dancers and a night of handmade item stalls. The music is quite loud during the day, however, if you head up to the top area, it is a little quieter and the sunbeds are more comfortable there. There is direct and quick access to the beach although we didn’t venture there much. It is a gravel beach with a small bar. We did, however, encounter and witness many guests, mostly British, drinking heavily, acting the fool and being disrespectful to the staff. Those same guests would complain that the staff were rude however that was not my opinion and I found it quite embarrassing that they thought their behaviour was acceptable. This hotel was basic but suited us just fine; you should not expect 5* quality for the price you pay here. Side notes: there is a tattoo shop and mini shop on site. We were situated in block A which is the main building however I did hear that other guests were placed in another block which was not on the same site. We didn’t once hear the prayer noise at 5am however other guests did (we must of had good sleep). Ultimately, I would return here with my teenager however not with my youngest child: there are other hotels more catered to younger children that would cost more to book however for my teenager, she was just happy it was sunny and would come again. For those of the TikTok world: the pharmacy is right out of the hotel and left on the strip (if you know you know)

“Amazing”

Came for two weeks and had the most lovely time all the staff was lovely the reps are great fun and the most friendly reps I have ever met Ozgur and ramp and sonjil have been my favourites and made sure we had a brilliant time and was always dancing with us

I stayed for a week with two friends for what was a lads holiday, a bit of sun in September 2025. It was an all-inclusive hotel and we arrived very late on the first day. I'll start with some of the bad things. We found our room in the C block, which was across two roads away from the beach front. We didn't have enough towels provided, and that was going to be a constant tussle all week. We talked to others throughout the week and they had similar experiences. In our block there was only one working lift in the hotel, and it was warm inside it. We had no choice but to use it going up though as we were on the 8th floor. There was Aircon on the ground floor but no water dispenser - that was on the 1st floor in an area that was closed most of the time and only open for about 6 hours a day. The food in the all inclusive was okay, but the vegetables were sometimes too hard to eat - not just al dente, but just raw in the middle - the sprouts were particularly horrible. Now the good stuff. The staff, especially the Animation Crew were energetic and engaging with the guests almost all day and throughout the evening. Really, they deserve medals for being up for anything. The pool was pretty good too. Quite big and warm and there were plenty of sun loungers. In fact, as the beach itself was a bit gritty and the tides were particularly rough when we visited, the pool in the main block was a bit of a godsend. I thought the entertainment on offer was pretty good, all things considered, and the food was plentiful all throughout the day. If you're thinking of going, it's worth saying that a taxi to the main part of Alanya is about twenty euros, and there's not much around Mahmutlar, which is the suburb where this hotel is. That said, we had lots of options for excursions that picked up from the hotel, and there was a pretty nice karaoke bar in the basement of C block. The hotel was geared up for all sorts of people. Old, young and in between. Families, couples and groups of mates. It was a bit no frills and out of the way, but it was cheap and cheerful for the most part. Keep your expectations low and vary what you do each day to get the most out of it.
