Just got back from a lovely family holiday at the Asteria Collection Side. We are a family of 4 with 2 teens - my husband emailed the hotel in advance and asked for our rooms to be near each other and they put us in adjacent rooms. Couldn’t fault the facilities - really clean in all the public areas, lots of pools, we never had a problem getting a lounger or somewhere to sit in a bar or at meals. Came with our teenagers - we were in the ‘upper’ part of the hotel away from the family side and that suited us well as it was quieter but we could also take advantage of the entertainment. The beach is a short stroll and there is a regular little shuttle bus to and from. There are (quite expensive) water sports and the snack bar is nice for lunch. I’ve seen a review from another English family complaining about the food being catered to Russian tastes but we always found plenty for all of us to eat - freshly cooked waffles and pancakes in the morning were very popular with the boys! The only negative of the food for us was the international à la carte, where the service was very poor, tables were messy, food was missing. We tried it twice in case the first time was a bad night, but the second time was worse! However, both buffets, the Turkish à la carte and the snack bars were all excellent. Absolutely delicious cocktails were a hit with the grown ups. Receptionists were very helpful when we wanted to go to Side for the day and also when we had problems connecting to the wifi - which has good coverage (no complaints from the teens!). Small water park onsite that I was worried wouldn’t be entertaining enough but the slides are fast and fun, and we went on them everyday.

Good hotel, nice beach, good atmosphere, clean rooms, good food with a lot of things to choose from, there a big shopping street, if you want to buy something.

We have just stayed at Asteria Collection Side in Sorgun and here is our honest review of the hotel. The hotel looks and sounds great on paper but we would say it isn't a 5 star hotel as there is room for improvements. The 2 in 1 hotel is confusing as there are 2 front entrances - one is the main building and the other is a shabby looking old hotel which is adult only (silent side). In the main building (family side) the reception and lobby bar were extremely clean, open space and nicely decorated. We were allocated a room in the Garden Building. To get there you would need to go out of the main hotel building front and down a corridor tunnel at the back of the hotel. The Garden building smelt and showed signs of damp on entrance. The room was on the first floor and it wasn't as fresh and nice as shown in the photos. A new A/C unit was installed as the old one must have stopped working but was still in place. The new extraction fan box was fixed on the small french balcony floor which was full of water from the A/C. We complained about the room and wanted to swap which was ok if we paid the extra 250 euros for the rest of our holiday. We were happy on doing so; we were given room 1236 and that was a large room with a much bigger balcony on the side of the hotel overlooking the shop roofs and main avenue street. It was a great room but after 4 nights staying in the room the weather changed - the wind picked up - and the balcony sliding door was whistling and howling throughout the night and day so we made the reception team aware and if it could be resolved. The guest relation team took over after nothing was done and was very nice and helpful but nothing was getting done fast. After a day waiting they told us that they couldn't fix the problem that day so we asked to have another room again. We viewed a small box room 1249 which wasn't suitable and we moved to room 1348 on the 3rd floor which was bigger but was smaller than 1236 but everything was fine in the room. It overlooked the front of the hotel and waterslides. It felt like a lot of guests weren't happy with the rooms and many requested to be moved. The team was busy swapping the guests around into new rooms which would take a lot of time and effort when the hotel was fully booked. The hotel didn't flow well, as you couldn't walk around to get from one pool to the other without going through the hotel lobby or walking behind the kitchen/service areas through the car park and front of the hotel. The other side of the hotel was the other hotel (ex Labranda) which was for adults only but we were informed it's now the silent side of the hotel and children can go as well and use the pool area with the restaurants too (we didn't). You had to leave the hotel grounds and walk on the pavement a few steps and enter through a gate at the back of the other hotel building. Shame there isn't a bridge connecting the two grounds as there is a public footpath in-between the hotels. There were plenty of food options but the temperature of the dishes wasn't great - lukewarm or cold. Thankfully, there was a microwave if you liked to heat your food up a little hotter. Didn't like the fact that in the morning at 7am there was a pile of fried eggs waiting to be taken when the restaurant was quiet at that time when I was down for an early morning coffee. I didn't touch breakfast as for this reason and also didn't see any Turkish sausages on the buffet like other hotels we've stayed in previous years. If you like fries and onion rings for every mealtime, breakfast, lunch and dinner you are in luck as there is plenty. The pool snack bar and food court were available too from lunch to 4pm but they were not great - food was cold. The patisserie in the hotel didn't serve drinks so if you wanted a hot drink, you had to go to the lobby bar to get it and then get your sweet dessert. We tried the international a la carte and it wasn't the best. The food came out all together and cold. The hottest thing on the table was the pizza and it was really tasty. Shame about the other 2 main dishes as the beef strip steak was tender but cold. There were plenty of spaces around the pools with sun loungers. Lifeguards on duty were great, making sure people were safe and implementing the rules which was nice to see, well done to them. The children's waterslides were great and our daughter loved spending time there and also the big waterslides were some guests favourite pastime. During our stay we didn't see the bottom of the pools being cleaned and you could feel things underneath your feet while using the pools even first thing in the morning. The indoor pool was closed during our stay which I think is an inconvenience as we would have liked to keep our daughter out of the sun after she had a sun rash reaction. The gym is small, damp, not refurbished for a while and half the equipment was out of order. The hotel staff were great and some were really kind and welcoming and tried to make your holiday a nice experience. They worked really hard and looked after you as much as they could. WiFi throughout the hotel worked great and even in the rooms which was amazing. The hotel could be great but a lot of work is needed to make this happen in our eyes. We wouldn't recommend this hotel and I hope it will improve as we do believe it could be a great hotel and 5 stars. I hope the other Asteria hotels in the group are better than this one as we were looking to stay at the Asteria family resort in Belek or Kizilagac but have been put off after our stay at Asteria Collection Side. This is our second time staying in the Sorgun area and there isn't much outside the hotel, the usual clothes, shoes and bags shops with a few bars/restaurants. We won't be returning to this area in the future as it's too far out. Local buses available to Side town and Manavgat

We arrived at asteria collection side hotel at 11pm and didnt have the best start to the holiday. Our room for 3 persons had just one double bed and after numerous trips to the reception and the reception staff refusing to allow me to speak to the manager, a fold up bed was finally brought to our room at 2am. We were so tired of arguing just to get my 15 year old daughter a bed we just went to sleep. The next morning we were surprised that the hotel we booked from love holidays didnt look much like where we were. Its transpires that asteria collection is exactly that (a collection of three hotel on large grounds). We had been placed in what they call the silent hotel which had one restuarant; one pool, a bar and a snack bar. It had no atmosphere and certainly wasnt the 5 star family hotel that we thought were we getting from the pictures online. I spoke to the love holiday representative who told me that the main hotel was full and that she had spoken to guest relations who said that there was nothing they could do. Following a disappointed review on trip advisor after just 24 hours at the hotel the guest relation team called me and advised me that this was the first time that had known of our situation and that the love holiday rep had never spoken to them (so had lied to us). Our advice is that if you want a quiet holiday our initial hotel within the grounds would be ok but for families you would want to be in the main hotel and your tour operator should make it clear what you are paying for otherwise it can feel misold. After the guest relation team got involved our experience improved. We were moved into the main hotel where the room was much better and had a proper bed for my daughter. This part of the hotel had music, nicer pools, slides, better snack bars, all the entertainment, numerous bars, more choice of food and had a nicer family feel to it. So after three days we started experiencing the holiday which was orginally sold to us. Pros of the hotel are the turkish alcarte (was beautiful), shuttle snd full all inclusive at a choice of two parts of the beach, two decent sized pools and separate slides pool with slides for all ages (no sunbed wars as always beds available).food was plentiful and great choice, patisserie lots of choice of cakes and flavours of ice cream and slushes available at the slide bar, staff worked really hard across the whole resort (rooms cleaned daily, staff in restuarant very helpful). Could improve on the evening entertainment (not sure a DJ every other night at 21.30 can really be classed as a show), staff in silent hotel reception were very dismissive and lobby bar in the main hotel was always a long wait mainly because staff there were so slow. A special mention and thankyou to the guest relation team, if it was not for them our holiday experience would have been far worse. On reflection of the whole 9 days would probably given the hotel 4/5 if we had had a better service at the beginning of the holiday
