A somewhat hidden surprise at Rruga A. Goga just across the Roman Forum. Walked in and booked 2 nights after seeing the comfortable room wih airco. All highlights of Durres in short walking distance. English speaking staff is very friendly and when asked gives directions to the better restaurants. Really enjoyed the stay and the royal traditional Albanian breakfast

“Average Hotel”

We stayed at the Hotel Lido for one night in August 2014. The hotel was not easy to find because the entrance is not on the main road and the hotel sign is barely visible especially at night. Even though we reserved the hotel 3 weeks before, but we arrived to the hotel late because of the delayed of the ferry from Italy to Albania, therefore the only room we could get was the worst one on the first floor with no A/C (Imagine a very hot summer day in August). The sink in the WC was broken, the water was leaking and it was not possible to have a warm water (but either extremely hot or extremely cold). However, it was only one night, so we went through it. The lobby area had a nice design and the receptionist that night was very sweet and helpful. She helped cleaning the leaking water. Breakfast was limited, but it is pretty much like that everywhere in Albania. I recommend having Fig jam/marmalade on your bread. I was mesmerized and totally fall in love with it. All in all, I would say it is a decent stay for the price you pay.

Struggled a bit to find the Hotel as the entrance does not face the main street. Be sure to ask for directions, it's right across the Thermal Baths ruins street. Centrally located, near the main sights (amphiteatre, termal baths), and a short walk from the boulevard that stretches along the shore (10/15 minutes walk). Rooms are big, bed was huge, has AC, minibar and Wifi. Hotel as a nice decoration though the room itself could benefit from a little TLC. Breakfast was a disapointment but I suppose we could have tried to ask for something else. Price is fair, you get what you pay for - except the poor breakfast.
