“Spacious rooms, wonderful location”

We loved the very spacious room, with a great shower, and TV spaced perfectly on the wall. Location is fabulous. We had a glass of wine one night here and it was the equivalent of under five dollars per nice pour! Breakfast was not great, but the coffee was hot and plentiful.

We had booked a Superior Double Room, according to the booking confirmation from booking.com, with a hot tub and fireplace. It turned out that there is no such room in the hotel. Our room 222 was oddly shaped with an outdated décor, a king-size bed and oversized armchair and dimly lit. There was a desk but no seat to use it. The bathroom had been renovated and was nice with a big rain shower head. We missed Kleenex and body lotion with the amenities. You need bottled water as the tap water is not good, They sell it in the mini fridge in the room but you can get it at Rossmann right across the street and they accept credit cards. We had a room with a garden view and it was quiet at night. We had one issue with cleanliness that was quickly solved. Our complaint is about the breakfast. It was served from 7 to 10 but some plates on the buffet were empty whenever we came. They would refill items when we asked. On the first morning out of 3 cereal containers 1 ½ were filled and the cornflakes were so stale that they were inedible. The next morning all 3 were freshly filled. The quality and quantity of breakfast items was less than mediocre. The margarine was camouflaged as butter, 2 cheap cold cuts, a little cheese, scrambled eggs and fried eggs (which were made fresh upon request). The only jam, strawberry, was terrible. The hotel is used by tour groups as starting and end point for their roundtrips therefore most of the catering affects people only for one morning. As we stayed for 4 days we could clearly see that the management is cutting corners. Three staff members stood out as most helpful and friendly, Drita and Clay at the reception desk and the young man behind the breakfast buffet. The location is the big plus of this hotel. All the main attractions can be reached by foot, We strongly recommend a visit to the Observator Wine Bar, which is only 10 minutes away and offers stunning views over the city.

This hotel was very dim and gloomy, felt a bit sad and dated. The location is excellent and the rooms relatively clean and comfortable. The staff seemed obsessed with the keys, we asked for a spare one and were warned if any keys were lost we’d be charged €5, one morning part of our group were on a day trip and the receptionist practically chased them out the building to ask where the key was…. we weren’t leaving for 2 more nights! All a bit strange! The breakfast wasn’t great, very basic. The bar attached closed very early but the staff there were very friendly. This hotel is ok if you just need a base, but I wouldn’t recommend if you plan to spend any length of time at the hotel.
