Stayed for 5 nights in May on my first trip to BA and this turned out to be a great pick. Was lucky to book a really low rate (albeit non-refundable, but only 10 or so days out) on Orbitz AND apply a 15% off by paying through that site, so it dropped the rate to well under half the high season amount. Do be aware: It probably won't be a large room, and only a few overlook the plaza. If you're like me and get one on the other end, your window might only open to the hall (or a closed alleyway), but you'll likely be better off on noise. Rooms are well-kept and have the ensuite bathroom, the flat TV with a good number of channels and other conveniences. It's closer to New York or Amsterdam small, and not quite Hong Kong small. Breakfast was nice for what it was, though if it were any nicer or with more items some people might try to tank up on it too much to skip lunch. Dipping a banana in the caramel dulce de leche packet is what Elvis might do if he went to BA, but it's very good. From the airport I took the opposite tack from Luis from Madrid and did a go-it-alone approach with the Manuel Tienda Leon bus into town (worked fine) but got an unscrupulous taxi driver who pulled the something's-wrong-with-this-bill trick. They had been having ongoing currency problems and he was claiming the taxis won't accept Eva Peron 100-peso bills, which was ridiculous. But I didn't know. They try to help you look through the cash you have and take some of it while you;re distracted or upset. I was watchful with the dollars but didn't notice until later that some of the 500-peso bills were missing. Ladrones! Don't fall for any of that nonsense. One mistake was taking a stationary taxi outside the MTL office...should have gotten at least a passing one. Take down the number, On the way back to the airport I reversed the process, without incident (passing taxi from hotel, then MTL bus for 260 pesos). And of course there's Uber or whatever the remise outfit is if you're not like me and have more than a "dumb" phone. But I digress. Great location right across from the plaza, and of course the big street feria happens on Sundays. I was looking for old records and did better with the fixed-location places in the nearby Mercado, as well as Eureka Records on Defensa just past where it crosses under the freeway in the direction of Boca. The Sunday feria adds a few dealers with interesting stuff (records, antiques, postcards, etc.), but far more common is the newer tourist-trappy merch like frig magnets, etc. And crafts. I thought the more interesting stalls were around the plaza and toward the Boca end, rather than downtown. One downside to the location is that it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to a Subte station. If you get good with SUBE cards and the bus system, though, there are a couple of bus routes that go right by.

The hotel was really nice and the room was well clean and tidy. the breakfast was OK. Great prices. I just wish I could pay by card as the assistant didn't allow me to pay with it but I think it was just a case. Very recommended!

The hotel is in a perfect location for the hussle and bustle of the San Telmo markets (mostly Sunday) in the park across the road and in the surrounding streets. To note the street out the front is closed for most of Sunday. Service was good & the included breakfast was average. The rooms were a split level configuration with the bedroom in a loft area up a tight internal staircase. With the bathroom and couch downstairs. The room layout wasn’t convenient and I wouldn’t recommend for elderly guests. With that said the location was good and the price was reasonable. I recommend visiting the markets at the corner of Defensa & Estados Unidos to eat. Also La Brigada restaurant for lunch or dinner.
