I stayed in Meulen to take a break from hostel life as a backpacker and it was really worth it. The staff at the reception has been very nice and welcoming. After a few days they felt like some kind of friends. The rooms are made with a style that I like a lot, combining old and modern fourniture. The bed was comfortable and the view from the room over the Lago Argentino was calming. The breakfast was good, typical Argentinian, but with fresh oranges, apples and bananas. Overall worth the stay. Only disadvantages: it takes about 30 minutes to walk to the center (but only 150$ARS for a taxi) and the temperature in the room was a bit too cold for me.

“Spectacult view with walk to town”

The staff were wonderful and very helpful. It is about 1.5 miles from town center, but you get an incredible view of the lake and mountains if you ask for a room in front. Breakfast was adequate. Fresh pastry, cereal, yogurt, ham and cheese. I did miss eggs. id stay again

The staff here were nice, although they were understaffed and a bit ditzy. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment, as they had very little options and often ran out of things. And because they only had one staff member working at a time, replacements took time. They had small containers of tea and coffee, which always seem to be empty. The place itself is nice and clean, and if you want to hike around Lake Nimez (highly recommended) it's a good location. But, otherwise it's not central (about a 25 min. walk into town) so we ended up taking their free transfers to the center (which is only available at certain hours), or paying for a cab (~$100 pesos).

Our hotel was about 400 meters from the shore of Lago Argentino, and our room had great views of the lake. The hotel staff were very nice and helped us arrange all of our tours while we were visiting El Calafate. The hotel also serves a breakfast that is included in the price of the room. The breakfast had breads (a bowl of sweet rolls was put on each table), cheese, sliced ham, cereal, and juice. You can order sack lunches to take on the different tours. All of the tours we were on had no food or minimal food at a slightly high price. Dinner is available in the hotel if you notify them before 5:00 PM that you are intending to eat at the hotel. Otherwise, there are many good options for dinner in town. Our room was nice and had enough space for the four of us. The shower had plenty of hot water and pressure. The wifi is slow so we had to sometimes use the computer in the hotel lobby if we needed to search for things quickly. The hotel will provide a free shuttle to town at designated times, but they do not provide a ride back to the hotel. Taxis back to the hotel were relatively in expensive and only took 10 minutes. You can also walk back to the hotel in about 30 minutes. Not all places in El Calafate accept credit cards so be prepared to carry cash. There are ATMs at the banks if you need extra cash.
