We had the most wonderful week at Verandahs Port Douglas. The accommodation was calm, peaceful, and beautifully maintained – exactly what we were looking for. The apartment was super clean, spacious, and comfortable, with beds that made for a great night’s sleep. The pool area was fantastic, a perfect spot to relax, and the apartments kitchen and shared BBQ facilities made breakfasts and easy dinners so convenient. Everything was thoughtfully set up to make our stay enjoyable and stress-free. A special mention to Brooke, who checked us in – she was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. Verandahs truly felt like a little slice of paradise. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-kept, and relaxing place to stay in Port Douglas. We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful family holiday in March at Verandahs. The location is by far one of the best things about the complex - just off the main drag so easy to get out and explore the shops/cafes/restaurants etc. without having to get in the car. We were a big family group with three two-bedroom apartments and loved the size of them and amenities available. The kitchen and dining areas meant we could all hang out together without having to eat out for every meal. All three apartments were quite different in terms of decor and furnishings with pros and cons for each (size of balconies, natural light, stairs or not etc.) Yes, the pool is basic, but as a group with kids ranging from 6 months old to 6 years old, we found it perfectly okay. There is a little shallow/wading area you use to walk into the pool where kiddies can paddle and kick about as yes, the rest of the pool is deep/for stronger swimmers. But I was able to enjoy sitting in the little shallow area with my baby and three year old niece splashing about before carrying them out to the deeper ends. What’s also nice about the pool is that there was always some part shaded with the palm trees providing some coverage. The pool at the complex next door was always baking in the open sun – I never saw anyone out there. The managers were helpful with organising a cot for hire that they have onsite, but also work with Oz Baby Hire (highly recommend!) for all other baby items as needed. The only reason I didn't give our stay five stars was the cleanliness was a little disappointing when first checked in, the towels a bit thin/old and the air conditioning in the main living area needed maintenance - but that was handled for us very quickly (thank you!) If you’re after the real resort experience with luxe pool and room service etc. then yes, don’t stay here. But if you’re after easy self-contained convenience in a great location to get out and about with your kids then I don’t think you can beat this place. Hope to come back for another visit soon enough.

unfortunately we were in apartment 3 which had a lot of road noise. motorbikes revving up and down the main road next to us and very noisey vehicles. And then people on the big patio below the bedroom talking loudly til late. We were disappointed as we arrived very tired and had started our travels 33 hours before. So many delays and issues - we finally got here to relax and it was just noisey. We arrived at night and there was a layer of dust everywhere. The luvers were open and our socks were filthy just walking around. I had to wipe down all the kitchen and bathroom benches and services. The air conditioning unit would make an annoying noise randomly throughout the night which would wake us. It wasnt the quiet holiday we had hoped for. The hot water was cool to lukewarm - so we had to boil water for dishes and the showers werent warm. We advised management but since it was the weekend we had to wait until the day before we left for it to be fixed. We were offered to change a night before but we were really over it by then and the change was to a dark unit. . Wifi was unreliable. It mostly worked in the main bedroom, but didnt work in the second bedroom, lounge, dining or on the balcony at all. We did raise this with management and they said its the same for them. The location is great and walking distance to beach, harbour, supermarket, central areas. The pool was lovely, but we had a pool facing unit and had to walk down the stairs, through reception, out the front and down a path to get to pool. Also all the pool facing units look into other units - it wasnt private and sitting on our balcony we would look across to other units and they would be looking at us. or people from the apartments next door would be looking straight at us.

Stayed for a week at Verandahs. The apartment was clean and the kitchen reasonably equipped to cook. The location is great. Right near the beach and shops/restaurants. Front desk staff helpful when needed. The downside was that it’s pretty basic in terms of decor, fittings and furnishings were very dated. Felt quite ‘old fashioned’ and worn. Also the pool is very small. Compared to our high end rental in Hervey Bay it was very, very ordinary and comparatively small! I’m really surprised at the boutique description in the advertising. For all these reasons I’d call it very average.
