“Great stay”

I made some booking mistakes online and on arrival checking in I believe the name of the staff member who helped me is Sarah - she was incredibly accommodating in sorting everything out, appreciated her service so much and she really went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Ritz Carlton Perth in spacious adjoining rooms with a common foyer and amazing views. Bradley in the restaurant was very friendly and an excellent dessert chef. His customer service was outstanding.

Second visit to this beautiful property, this time with my daughter who checked in ahead of me. Firstly, the property is excellent - rooms, location, breakfast, pool, the “ladies and gentlemen” as the Ritz calls its staff. So that’s why this property merits its five star rating. The breakfast is extensive, fresh and beautifully presented - the new crepe station was a great addition. The poolside loungers had deep and comfortable cushions, much better than anywhere else I’ve been in recent years. But secondly (and not really detracting from how good this place is at everything else), there is still something a bit wonky about “space available upgrades”. I’m both a Bonvoy Gold member and booked through Private Upgrades (similar to Amex FHR programme. Based on my experience last time, I tried to be clearer about not upgrading me to a perceived or actual “better” room type if I lost the premium view of the river, quay and clock tower. So no Langley and no city. When I got there my daughter was in a city (skyline) view room. Apparently the upgrade was a romantic bathtub placed so you could look out at the lights in the city - not really a plus for a mother and daughter. It also meant a bigger bathroom and a smaller bedroom. The hotel originally had me as Mr, and the welcome gift was addressed to Mr and Mrs, so I can see how someone might have thought a romantic bathtub would be appreciated. Next time I’m back I think I will have to put a “do not upgrade” note on my booking. Or just reach out first? Anyhow, I emailed ahead of my arrival and the hotel put things right. I was shown two options including a studio but ended up in the originally booked room category on a high floor with the best of views. I’ve seen enough city scrapes to last a lifetime, so really value being able to have a wide water view. Tried a new restaurant in the Quay this time as well - Argyle - which is a weird name for a Japanese restaurant. Very very yum but also $$$$

We were so excited to book and stay a night at this hotel on the last night of our month long trip travelling around Australia but we were left slightly disappointed. Firstly the positives - a lovely check in experience, a nice welcome, a very beautiful hotel with excellent amenities and a fantastic location. The room was great - very spacious, the bathroom was exceptional. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The temperature was fine. The window blind options were a nice touch. The robe and slippers were very welcome and comfortable. The bath was excellent. And on to the negatives - we ordered from the all day menu at the bar downstairs. When it arrived the order was incorrect (we ordered two Snapper but was given Octopus), this wouldn’t have been too much of an issue however the Octopus contained chorizo. We are both pescatarian and so don’t eat meat but eat fish/seafood. When I explained this, it was sorted straight away and the correct dishes were provided. However, there was very little in the way of an apology, I felt like I was a nuisance for raising the issue. The fact that the dishes contained meat could have been significantly distressing to us had we not realised and ate some of it. I would have expected a sincere apology but this was not given. Secondly, when swimming in the lovely infinity pool, I was abruptly told by a staff member that I was not supposed to be in there as it was closed for maintenance. I was already aware that a closure was in operation at check in but not at the time I was swimming as I ensured I waited until it reopened. I explained this and the staff member went to check, he returned and apologised as I was in the right. Again, this should not have happened as he should have been made aware of the closure times before approaching us. Thirdly, the bed had a very bad quality quilt which left us with itchy skin and red blotches. This needs to be looked at. I did speak to the receptionist about the incorrect dishes issue and she apologised but I would have expected a follow up regarding this upon check out but it was not mentioned. Neutral - breakfast was good, but more veggie cooked options could have been offered. Overall, a mixed experience with issues that could have been easily avoided with improved training for some staff in customer service. As a Gold member with Hotels.com, a Marriot Bonvoy member and for the price of the room, I would have expected a better experience. I am not sure if we would return to this hotel, although the location was spectacular so this may swing it.
