Enjoyed a very relaxing two weeks in the southern Austrian Alpine region... in the Presidential Suite at #vocovillach The city of Villach itself is centrally located to visit the beautiful lakes and sites of Carinthia, of which I also attached some pics. With the hotel being fully booked on most nights by cyclist groups it remained a quiet relaxing haven. Except for breakfast that is, however amazing Sharon and her team made sure that guests didn't have to wait long for a table. And for her VIP's as she called us, there was always a table reserved, either indoor or on the riverside terrace. Way to go Sharon, what excellent service you gave us! That friendly and attentive service was also given by every other staff member we interacted with, from front office to housekeeping and even the technical handyman whom returned especcialy from his day off to make sure our aircon was working properly. Thank you all for a job well done! Three things I absolutely recommend voco Villach visitors to do is, go soak in the thermal baths at Villach-Warmbad, drive the Villach Alpinstrasse into the Alps and visit the adorable city of Velden by the Wörther See (See means lake in German). Excellent location in the city center, helpful and friendly staff, a stunning view of Villach’s old town, parking in underground garages with direct access to the hotel, and rooms that are functional yet thoughtfully designed. In higher-floor rooms like ours, the minibar is included in the room rate, and the price is more than adequate for the quality of accommodation and services — what more could one wish for? Perhaps only to find such a wonderful breakfast in every hotel as we had here at voco Villach. You enjoy breakfast in a beautiful, stylish setting with a glass wall overlooking the river and the old town of Villach, and the breakfast buffet is so rich and varied that we may never have encountered anything like it before — and we have stayed in dozens of four- and five-star hotels. The breakfast was so outstanding, with such a delightful atmosphere, that we simply must give the hotel the highest rating. Thank you to everyone at voco who took such great care of us for the lovely time we spent here. The only issue during our stay was something I’ve been encountering in hotels quite often lately — and it’s starting to bother me quite a lot: a non-functioning room temperature control. Even when I try to lower the temperature to a level that would be comfortable for sleeping, the heating does not respond. This seems to happen with electronic thermostats that are apparently centrally controlled and prevent guests from adjusting them. I really dislike having to cool the room by keeping the window open all night, especially in winter. Nevertheless, I still give this wonderful hotel the highest rating.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel with 2 adults and 3 kids. As I was using reward nights of my IHG account I had the only option to book two rooms one with extra rollaway bed. (there isnt any interconnecting rooms). I had let the hotel known a month or three weeks before our arrival that we'd like to have the two rooms next to each other. The result? Two rooms on different floors which is quite tricky as your hotel keycard is only programmable for the floor your room is loacated at. The front desk suggested to get ckecked for a room change after the first night but who wants to have the hassle of moving out with 3 little kids from a room to another? Finally we had left it as is and asked for a second set of keys for both rooms. Regarding the hotel it was a conversion from Holiday Inn to Voco which succeded very well on the lobby and the bar/restarurant area less fine on the room floors/corridors. The restaruant is really appeling with an open terrace facing the river and the old town of Villach. The breakfast is a good deal for 15 EUR/adult/night if you buy it for the whole stay. Both the selection and the quality of the meal is excellent. Ordering a freshly prepared omlette is a must epecially the one with truffle oiled and the salmon. Location is great both in terms of views and acceisiblity of the old town. My IHG Platinum membership was recognized and a room upgrade to river facing was ensured on a high floor which i really loved. The room floors seemed like less spending was allocated here on refurbishment, and on one of the floors a strange/unplesent smell/oudur was sensible. The room itself was very nice with premium bedlinen and high quality matracess thus the sleep quality was impressive. Soundproifing was great either. The lack of fridge was annyoing especially in the hot July time the offering of the minibar was put on a tray on a table. Overall we had a good stay at the hotel but I cannot give 5 stars due to the lack of professionalism of the front desk with the room allocations.

Great location, only 8 minutes or so walk from the station, yet close to the old town. Friendly check in and the river view from the bedroom was great. Slightly quirky bathroom arrangement with various glass doors that seemed overly-designed, but all in all a very comfortable and quiet space, perfect for a stopover. The only reason this doesn’t get 5/5 is the poor experience we had when trying to get dinner, and the rudeness and disinterest of one of the duty staff, which meant we went outside for dinner. But other than this, it was a very pleasant stay.
