Location was good in the middle of the town. The room was clean, a good size but quite dated and dark. We are none smokers and as it was warm and stuffy we had our balcony door open. Unfortunately our neighbour was a heavy smoker so often had to shut the balcony door. She was also very loud on the phone! A fan was provided but aircon would have been good. Perhaps as well as non smoking rooms, non smoking balcony’s would be good too or at least a totally non smoking floor. Swimming pool fab, did not make any use of other ‘spa’ facilities. We went out to eat so did not eat in the room. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We made use of the local free transport pass which we thought was a brilliant idea. We booked through holiday inn vacations RCI so would not have wanted to pay full price.

We had a wonderful time in Austria and our base at Alpenland in St Johann im Pongau was really great. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time in Austria and our base at Alpenland in St Johann im Pongau was really great. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room exceeded our expectations ( booked as an exchange through RCI we had an 2 adjoining rooms, one of which was a studio with a little kitchen and table and chairs). The rooms were well appointed, and the daily cleaning was exceptional. It was a peaceful experience for most of the time we were there, with things not too busy. The indoor pool was lovely. The outdoor section with loungers was great to lie in the sun, or under the trees in the shade. The restaurant had a good selection ( we ate off the al la carte menu a few times). It would be nice if they had an al la carte option for the breakfast, instead of just a buffet, as not everyone wants to eat a full buffet for €23. It would have been nice if water in the rooms was replenished everyday, as well as the coffee pods, instead of making people provide their own after the complimentary ones run out. It surely can't be that costly to the hotel to provide that nice touch. We went on a couple of excursions with Peter. They were easy to organise, book, and Peter looked after us well at the different attractions. The only issue I would say is that the rooms are very warm/hot, especially at night, but I understand we were there during a heatwave, and the hotel provided fans.Thank you to all at Alpenland for a wonderful experience, and we would definitely like to return at some point.

This is a large, centrally located hotel with a charmingly nostalgic 90s atmosphere. While the property feels dated and shows its age compared to newer hotels, the stay was overall pleasant—largely thanks to the outstanding and accommodating staff. 🟢 The Positives Location & Cleanliness: Perfect central location, and despite being outdated, the room was spotlessly clean. Spa & Amenities: Great sauna and spa facilities. The pool is clean, though it tends to get a bit crowded. Exceptional Service: The staff goes above and beyond. A receptionist generously gave her own personal fan to help cool down the room, and a broken fridge was replaced immediately. 🔴 The Drawbacks No AC & Heavy Noise: The lack of air conditioning forces you to keep the balcony door open at night. Because of this, earplugs are a must: mall logistics start noisy operations at 7:00 AM, and nearby church bells ring 24/7. Overpriced Breakfast: The breakfast itself was good, but at €29 per person, it is heavily overpriced. Awkward Fixes: The replacement fridge provided by the staff was too big for the housing unit, meaning the cabinet door could no longer be closed. The Verdict: A nice, nostalgic stay with excellent customer service, but there is a noticeable comfort gap when compared to modern hotels.

We had a very pleasant stay. The location is beautiful and perfect for exploring the area. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before, and after a few years we decided to come back again. The hotel is definitely showing its age. It hasn’t changed much over the years and could benefit from some renovation and modernization. However, it was clean and comfortable throughout our stay. The Wi-Fi is quite slow, which could also be improved. The biggest highlight is the staff and the service, which are truly excellent. Everyone was friendly, professional, and always willing to help. One suggestion would be to invest in higher-quality laundry room. Overall, we had a great stay thanks to the wonderful staff and the excellent location, and we would be happy to return again.
