We stayed at the hotel for three days and it was a fantastic stay. The hotel is located on the hill just outside the centre of the relatively small village of Fugenberg. We booked a room with a balcony overlooking the city and the valley. The room was extremely clean and quiet. The hotel provided a backpack for loan and another bag containing bathrobes and towels for use when going to the spa. We also went to the hotel spa-area in the basement with steam bath, 2 types of sauna and a nice indoor pool. Very nice and clean. The staff were very freindly and welcoming - is was obvious to us that it was general for all staff members - a personal welcome every morning. A great serviceminded approach. We had the half board package with breakfast and 3-4 course dinner included. The food was tasty and well cooked. Included in our stay, was a round trip ticket to the adjacent seilbahn “Jochspeilbahn” that actualy goes across the hotel to the top. We took a ride to the top and hiked around for 5 hours enjoying the fresh clean air and the magnificent view. The other days we went to the other parts of the mountains for hiking. The female part of the family tried to book facial treatment and cosmetics, but the hotel did have some issues getting into contact with the external provider of this service. Unfurtunately this resulted in no apointment during the stay. Overall - we had a very nice and relaxing stay. We will definitely return another time.

We, a family of four, have just spent the half-term skiing week with friends at Waldfriede and enjoyed our stay immensely. We had a lot of communication with reception before our stay about requirements, practicalities, advice for skiing etc and found the service to be quick, polite and accommodating. The rooms were pleasant and clean, the views beautiful and the food aplenty and and generally high quality. Having half-board is just so easy and relaxing for everyone; all you need to do is turn up. The lounge and restaurant are cleverly designed and lovingly decorated. Service was charming and usually efficient. The terrace is lovely and there were usually fires in the evening after dinner - what a lovely way to end a good day's skiing! Probably the best feature of Waldfriede is the spa area in the basement. Our kids loved the swimming pool to the left and the adults enjoyed the two saunas, steam room, infra red cabin and relaxing area, all with stunning views of the last bit of sun on the mountain range opposite. We were all really impressed by the spa area - it was created with very good attention to detail. So all you do after skiing is slip into your complimentary robe, take the lift down and relax in the sauna where you can also get water and a selection of teas. The location is brilliant - easy to get to by car and train and directly on the slope no.5. In the morning, you go to the basement, put your boots on, get your skis and walk across the parking area at the back to the stairs (20metres from the door), put your skis on and ski down to the valley station. Easy! However, we didn't take into account that complete beginners won't ski down, but walk. Also, the kids left their skis at the mountain station with the ski school which was very helpful but meant that after skiing we had to walk up to the hotel with the kids from the bottom station. If everyone is intermediate or advanced, you can naturally just ski down to the hotel (if there is enough snow!). We were also very happy with "Ski Check" ski school as they offer courses that are 2 hours in the am, 2 hours in the pm and you can book lunch and supervision for kids in between, giving you pretty much a full day of kid-free skiing. We tried Hochfuegen for one day as it is included in the Superskipass and liked it very much but you need to catch a bus there and back, so skiing at Spieljoch just outside Waldfriede is just much easier and instant! A great hotel that is also good value for money we thought and we would all be very happy to return to Waldfriede.

A beautiful hotel at a beautiful place in Zillertal, Tirol. The owners and staff are all very friendly and will help you with everything. Very high service! The rooms are comfortable and very clean and the food is excellent (very good and a lot of healthy choices). We even had a lunch bag every day! Sorry that some windows didn’t have curtains and you can smell the people who smoke at the balcony near you and beneath you. We love to come back!
