Visited for 5 nights in July. The Spielmann is a beautiful hotel in an unbeatable setting just at the foot of the mountains. We hat the Wellness suite which was spacious with an L-shaped balcony, but we thought another time we would downgrade as the hotel and spa are so lovely we didn't spend much time in the room. Half-board was great. They allocate you one table for your stay and you order from the options for dinner over breakfast. Dinner was extremely good - the white tomato soup was amazing, as we're many other dishes. Only one dessert and you have to pay even fir a jug if table- water. But cocktails etc reasonably priced for someone used to SE UK prices. The staff were great and there is excellent bike storage which is important for us. The main spa area is continental -style ie you are not clothed in the facilities, but people don't gowns or towels generally to move in between. The downstairs sauna is textile, but nowhere near as hot so not that great really. Overall highly recommend, we would love to go back.

“Almost perfect”

I 'discovered' this hotel for an overnight stop when driving out to Greece in 1982, and promised myself that I'd return. 30+ years later we made our first winter trip, and then a second just before the pandemic. We've now returned from our first summer walking break there, and it's as good as ever: the only 'faults' we've raised with them are when children (and their inflatables...) should be allowed in the pool; and, to our taste, the need for white and rose wines by the glass to be better chilled. I won't dwell on the amenities, which you can gauge via their website. Some of the rooms, including ours, have been updated since our last visit. I will mention that the dinner menu, part of the half-board booking, now offers the choice of three different main courses: meat, fish or vegetarian, in addition to a choice of two appetisers and two soups, plus a dessert and cheese. The food overall remains excellent and innovative, eg 'Beeramisu' as a dessert! Th staff are unfailingly helpful, and all seem part of the 'Spielmann family/team'. I could on, but I'll jut close with 'highly recommended': one of my all-time favourite hotels.

Situated on the edge of Erhwald the hotel and garden has lovely views of the mountains. Our room had a nice modern take on traditional Alpine furnishing. However, surprisingly, there was no fridge or coffee/tea tray. For this price there should have been. We did not use the pool but it looked attractive. Service varies, reception could not have been more helpful but it was difficult to get a drink on the terrace. Dinner in the large dinning room was not good. Breakfast was much better, plenty of choice and the omelette bar was excellent - but the ‘orange juice’ was terrible, again for this price it should be fresh orange juice.
