really enjoyable family friendly reasonably priced guest house run by v helpful and freindly family with breathtaking view of the Alps nearby lots of hill walks golf courses and bars shops etc all very reasonably priced they couldn't do enough for us highly recommended

“Don't be fooled by the 4*s in the hotels name”

The hotel itself is clean and the staff tries very hard to please but during few cold rainy days you would expect heat in the room. My swimsuit was drying for 3 days. The hotel itself is clean and the staff tries very hard to please but during few cold rainy days you would expect heat in the room. My swimsuit was drying for 3 days. The dinner selection is small and execution is very mediocre. Long waits for the waiters to get you food and sometimes it comes cold or tastes as if someone emptied a salt shaker into it. Game meats are usually very dry and tasteless. Good selection of foods for breakfast. Rooms are spacious and wood finished. There is a spa jacuzzi an indoor and outdoor pool but a lot of families with kids that tend to crowd those places. Dogs are allowed and are even in dining areas. The town is very small and is totally asleep at around 9 pm. Sunday everything is closed. I needed a pharmacy that day - thank god for my rental car - I had to drive to a town in Germany (15 km apart) where a pharmacy was opened on Sunday for 1 hour ( from11 am to 12 pm). Mountains and hiking paths surrounding the area during the day are crowded even in September. Thank you to the hotel to reserve 2 pairs of walking sticks for us and greet us with sparkling wine! But All in all the food especially fails against other hotels.

We visited Tirolerhof during the Christmas holiday (23rd of December – 28th of December). We were very pleased with our room which were very suitable for a family of three adults + two dogs. However, we were very disappointed about the dinner in the restaurant, we expected a five-course gourmet menu (As the hotel promised that on their website and in the hotel folder). We were very exited about the five-course gourmet dinner especially on Christmas Eve, which unfortunately turned into a big disappointment and we had to send the food back, because it was overcooked, not fresh or generally not tasty. We appreciate a good restaurant/hotel with a good kitchen and nice food, which are very important when we choose hotels. The waiter didn’t even know anything about the food when we asked about it, which is not what you expect, when you hear about a gourmet kitchen and restaurant. The disappointment could have been avoided if the hotel didn’t advertise about the kitchen the way they do, and our expectations hadn’t been that high. The hotel should call the food in the restaurant half board ordinary Austrian food and not gourmet food, then people know what they get 😊. The breakfast however was nice, when the staff remembered to fill up food. We already told the hotel the above mentioned, where we were told that they never had a complaint about the food before, which probably also will be their comment on this post. However, we want to inform other guests about this, so that they will choose the hotel with regard to the family friendly surroundings, good wellness, nice rooms and good location – and not the “gourmet” food.
