The gorgeous classical style of the hotel and its rooms truly make you feel that you are transported a century back, it gives a very elegant and luxurious experience. We booked a 'superior double room' for space reasons. I must also commend the staff, a lovely woman checked-us in and she was extremely kind, helpful and professional, as was all staff that we encountered there, all lovely people. The hotel is also in a great location, very short walk to the metro, closeby to one of the main shopping streets for clothes, fast food, etc. and a 10-15 minute walk to Grand Place and the centre of Brussels. The hotel recommends handing room keys to reception when leaving as they are not electronic cards but actual keys, this matches the style and decor and this was great because there is also someone at reception 24/7 so there is no worry about what time you return. The room is cleaned, sheets changed and new towels provided daily. LGBTQ+ friendly. We found the bed quite comfortable and the room does come with a TV with access to many stations both national and European, we found this helpful mainly to catch the news at the end of the day. If you are planning to travel to other cities like we did, namely Luxembourg City, Brugge & Ghent, it is in a great location and walking distance to both the metro (Porte de Namur) and the train station (Brussels Central). Some things to note: The hotel was quite warm and without air conditioning in the rooms, it got quite warm during the night especially. I would not recommend this hotel in the summer but for Late Autumn, Winter and Early Spring should be fine; We stayed Mid to End of March. We did open the window but because of where our room was situated, the window opened out onto an outside area where people were passing by, understandably, we did not feel comfortable leaving the window open overnight as people would be able to look in if they tried. I will also emplore anyone booking to note that the shower is also in classical style, it is not a standing shower but rather one connected to the bath that you must hold - just make sure you are aware. While glasses and a glass-jug for water were left in the room, there was no water in the jug so it would have been nice to access cold water without the need to buy bottles out as purchased bottles of water would become warm after a few hours but just a personal preference about hydration. Otherwise, you must drink the water from the bathroom sink tap. Wifi was OK on the phone but could not connect using laptop. We did not try the swimming pool or the breakfast as we simply did not have time as we were travelling to other cities and with a busy itinerary so I cannot comment on the pool or breakfast. Particularly for Tea & Coffee lovers, there is no kettles in the rooms for tea or coffee. We did request it in our booking but it was not in our room and we just didn't have time to request it again as we would often be out all day and only return late. Important: There is not a lot of storage for clothing, no wardrobe and no drawers. There are some hangers left over coat hooks for clothing you need to hang, otherwise leave it in your suitcase/luggage or on the table and chairs. In conclusion, if you are not fussy about how you store luggage, the type of shower you have, if the room is a bit warm, if you don't have tea or coffee facilities then you will do perfectly fine here! What makes up for some of the above is that everything else is very good. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and supportive and would personally be top of my list alongside the beautiful and elegant decor and style of the hotel followed by it's great location to many nearby shops, cafés, restaurants, attractions and transport options.
