We booked a last minute city trip, to Dinant. Just a quick view what is available in the area brought us to the old monastery. Just across the bridge overlooking the river, what a nice view. Very quiet area, though remember it's up a hill so save some of your energy when walking back from town if you decided to eat out. The rooms are located around the courtyard, that have been covered with a glass roof, on solid steel beams. The breakfast is indeed very good, so is the bar, that is basically the same area, plenty of choices of good Belgium beers. Our room was overlooking the river, some stunning views in the morning. Hotel has plenty of parking in front of the hotel, or you can park beside the hotel, behind the barrier, which is accessible with an entry code. Hotel has a museum and museum shop with plenty of Leffe beer to choose from. Friendly staff and a pleasant stay. Do visit the Citadel even one has to climb the 400 steps it is for sure worth the visit.

Very nice hotel with great staff always happy to help. Large rooms with great comfy beds. Very clean. Breakfast excellent and secure parking. Meals at casino very good too

The hotel is set a little bit away from the center of town and as a result quite quiet. We found Dinant to be very walkable from the hotel. An easy walk from the train station. The hotel is set a little bit away from the center of town and as a result quite quiet. We found Dinant to be very walkable from the hotel. An easy walk from the train station. This hotel is very nice, the rooms are very large with very high ceilings. Very comfortable indeed. Beds are comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast had many choices and was very good. The Leffe Tour was very interesting and the beer afterwards was excellent.

“This is a stay in a Cloister.”

This is a 3 Star hotel but a 4 Star experience. This is a Cloister so you really need to think of this as an experience. It’s different from what we are used to. This is a 3 Star hotel but a 4 Star experience. This is a Cloister so you really need to think of this as an experience. It’s different from what we are used to. The bathrooms are mostly renovated and there’s a very nice renovated Common Area with a bar and breakfast. But other than that…it’s still a Cloister. The views from the rooms (at least room #103 of the river and the Citadel and the town, were exceptional, which is why I picked this hotel…you want to be on this side of the river to get the best views). There is a tiny rough-hewn prayer chair outside of each room. The rooms are sparse with nothing on the walls, except for a TV (which we personally never use). There is a small desk in the room which is very convenient. There are a couple of chairs and a footstool. There is a very rough-hewn teeny tiny armoire (probably dating back to the 1700’s) where the nun kept her clothes and you can now keep a few of yours. There are no luggage racks (we asked) and no place to put your luggage except on the floor and maybe the footstool. There is a hair dryer. The bed is very comfortable. The sleep quality depends on your luck. Again, this is a Cloister without sound proofing in the ceilings or walls. Our first night was a Thursday and the people on either side of us stopped talking and went to sleep at a reasonable hour. It was very quiet. Our second night was Friday and the people upstairs checked in at 11:30 p.m. and walked around the room until 12:30 p.m. I’m sure they were walking normally but without soundproofing it sounds like stomping. We finally gave up on sleeping and started working. We took the duvet out of the cover and just used the cover as it was too hot. But it was fine once we removed the duvet. I was impressed by the bedside lights as they were movable and dimmable (ok so I’m easily impressed but it was convenient). Breakfast was very good and had many options, including hot options. There is no safe in the room but our computers and passports were fine without a safe. The room was clean but a bit worn in spots. They do offer a welcome drink of your choice, which I thought was a nice touch. You will need to have patience when turning in your key, or picking it up each time you leave the building as the receptionist is also the bartender and the locations are quite far from each other. Once it only took 5 minutes but it was usually 10 or more minutes. So just be patient and plan on hanging out. The staff is friendly and helpful, it just takes a while. If you’re arriving by train from Brussels, you need to know that the elevator on that side of the train station is broken so you’ll need to haul your luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The hotel is close enough to the train station but you’ll need to go slow as it’s up a relatively steep hill. All in all, it was a good stay, you just need to be prepared to stay in a real live Cloister. Definitely get the Combo Ticket for the Citadel and Gondola and Boat Ride. All were really good. BTW you get the Ticket at the bottom of the gondola NOT at the Tourist Info.
