I spent five nights at Hotel Regina Resort participating in a UNESCO Education Conference. We were quite a crowd, and basically took over the hotel; therefore, I could not comment on it as a vacation spot. There seemed to be a number of swimming pools, a gym and a disco, although the weather was too cold to swim (even in the heated pool in the house in which I was booked), and I didn't see the disco operational while I was there. During the conference, the meals were excellent: well presented and plated; however, the night before the conference I had supper in the same restaurant, and the food was well below an average standard. Perhaps they had a different chef that night. The meals routinely comprised two kinds of meat (always beef but sometimes pork or chicken in addition), a beautifully designed salad and some kind of carbohydrate. The service was spectacular - all the wait staff coming to a table at the same time, carefully supervised by a member of staff whose job seemed to be to ensure that the service was special. My reservation about the resort was the room to which I was assigned: I was booked into a large house (clearly meant for visiting families) called Fever House that could sleep 10 comfortably. The house was on the resort compound, but was separated from the rest of the resort by a surrounding wall that had one door in it - and for which the three people staying in it each had a key. The livingroom/diningroom/bar/kitchen/breakfast room ran the length of the house (I paced it off - it was about 40 feet long) and was beside an indoor heated swimming pool. (I did not have a swim suit to test it out). The house was large enough to warrant its own Internet address. The sleeping accommodation was on the second and third floors. My room had two twin beds, a dressing room and private bathroom, as did another bedroom on that floor, and the third bedroom had three queen sized beds and a very large bathroom attached to it. On the third floor, there was a large sitting room that ran the length of the house and one bedroom with twin beds in it, a private dressing room and bathroom. Clearly, this house was not meant for so few people, but apparently the resort was full for the conference, and so, I didn't have a choice. There was one telephone for the house, which was beside the front door, and allowed the occupants to call Reception. This house was very isolated and the communication arrangement was less than satisfactory. For example, the only time someone needed to contact me, the Reception called the house, but I was far away from the telephone and could not hear it ring. Apparently, Reception sent someone to the house to look for me in person; however, whoever came did not realise that one had to come inside the yard and the house and upstairs for anyone to hear him/her. Altogether, the accomommodation was not ideal. Because the weather was very cold at night, I had to ask for a heater, which Reception kindly arranged - along with extra blankets. Overall, the staff were helpful, the food was good, and the service exceptiona,l but my experience with the accommodation was not good enough for me to recommend the resort - except to someone who was plannng to stay with a large family.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a team meeting. I really enjoyed it. The food was really good (especially the breakfast buffet). The food service was a bit slow, but they were all very nice. There are many different pools, which is perfect if you want to relax or if you have kids who want to play. The resort is quite far from the actual city and the airport, so not ideal as a starting point for seeing tourist attractions.
