-19.588851°, -65.752096° Hostal Colonial is centrally located, very close to the main square (Plaza 10 de Noviembre), the cathedral and other attractions. The charming and attractive colonial architecture of the hostal is beautiful and has a lot of atmosphere. In April 2025, our room 105 was clean with a comfortable double bed. No noise from the surrounding area. The bathroom was brand new with a hot shower. Wi-Fi was reliable and worked well. The heating in the rooms was very effective, but we did not need it. The room had a small refrigerator, but no other in-room amenities. No possibility to make a cup of tea or coffee. The breakfast starts at 7.30 AM and was tasty and good. Hostal Colonial is centrally located in a beautiful building for a good night’s sleep. Highly recommended.

“A great option in Potosi.”

We didn’t know what to expect at Hostal Colonial but we were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in an old building and situated around a pleasant courtyard just two minutes walk from the centre of the town. Our room was enormous and our bathroom had recently been refurbished and was very modern and spotlessly clean. The room had central heating and was lovely and warm at night. This was the one place we stayed in Bolivia which didn’t have an in-room safe but the front door to the hotel was locked at night so we felt our things were safe in the room and we didn’t have any issues. Like many Bolivian hotels, the dining area was a bit cold at breakfast. Also the breakfast buffet was quite limited although they were happy to cook egg dishes on request. It was quite sufficient for a light breakfast. The staff were very cheerful, friendly and helpful too. We would definitely recommend this hotel in Potosi.

“In a town that’s growing fast, this is the best there is for now.”

Located on a Main Street, this is one of those hotels that look small from the outside but is huge on the inside. It’s a narrow street and even a taxi must stop traffic while unloading any luggage. The location cannot be beat as it’s just 1 block from the central square. You also have the best restaurant in town directly across the street - “4060”. The hotel and rooms are all equipped with a radiator which keeps it toasty warm. All other aspects of the rooms are fine - linens, shower, toilet, etc. It’s not a 5 star resort so don’t expect all the amenities, but hot water and heat and a nice environment will make you feel “at home”. You simply can’t stay in a better location than this hotel. It is 1min to the main square of the old town. A 4,000m you will appreciate short walks. You simply can’t stay in a better location than this hotel. It is 1min to the main square of the old town. A 4,000m you will appreciate short walks. There’s a beer place across the street with a good selection of non-lager beer but I wouldn’t eat there. It’s in a gorgeous old building and rooms are old styled to match. The bed was very comfortable, the room was nice and warm. Plenty of hot water (shower over bath) and they was a hair dryer that wasn’t attached with an armoured chain to the wall. Breakfast was nice too but simple There was a TV but no remote. An empty fridge that wasn’t plugged in. One bottle of water for a couple over 2 days was stingy. And I don’t know why they didn’t replace the toilet roll. In summary, highly recommended for a short stay (we did 2 nights).
