Travelled as family of 4, this was a truly authentic amazon experience. The rooms had perfectly working air conditioning, hot water with good force, clean and modern toilets. Starting with bookings- Mauriceau was excellent in promptly communicating over whatsapp. We had a 1.45 AM departing flight and they let us check out at 10 PM, and we even had the evening buffet meal on the house. They also picked us up from the airport at 3.AM . Again very safe Restaurant breakfast, lunch buffet- excellent with good choices for both vegetarian and fish, meat lovers. The drinks ( sodas, lagers , wines) were reasonably priced. The girls on the restaurant worked with a smile and special thanks to Monica and Flavia. The amazon tours were safe and authentic. Special thanks to Moises our bilingual translator. Issac, William, Manuel kept the tours safe and enjoyable.

AJH was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived at our hotel during the late evening, steeped in fog. AJH was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived at our hotel during the late evening, steeped in fog. We ferried across a small lagoon in a small boat in the pouring rain with the faint lights of the hotel swaying in the distance marking or journey. Think 'Heart of Darkness'! The stairway up the short hill to the lodge was lit by a single string of incandescant lights over the dock and stairway as my group climbed our way up the steps to the hotel. We followed our guide to the registration desk and were met by our hostess to get organized, pick up keys and disburse to our rooms. Our adventure was only beginning. To summarize, our local guide shared the beauty of the jungle with us for 3 days on short boat trips to visit the recent ruins of a luxury hotel on the river, the largest tree in the Amazon. We went Pirana fishing, hiked to explore the jungle wildlife and swam with the dolphins in a small waterway of the Negro river. We visited several villages where we enjoyed local crafts, music, dancing and a small granary where we were able to sample the handmade breads from the region. The AJH staff made this truly authentic jungle adventure an awesome and memorable experience for which I am grateful. Others have described the property so I will not elaborate experience to say they have done a great job of bringing together modern luxuries with the rustic accommodations to make a very comfortable experience. Good food, good bar, good service, great excursions! Thank you.

Great place to really experience the real amazon vibe. I could have stayed at a higher end hotel but it wouldn't feel like being in the Amazon. I wish the accommodations of this hotel lived up to the quality of the service and the excursions they provide. Unfortunately, they do not. The hotel gives the impression of either being in the process of trying to elevate the experience it provides or trying to hold onto a previously elevated experience that is slipping away. In either case, the rooms offer monogrammed sheets and fancy bath products while doors have wide gaps that allow insects to enter freely and smelling similar to portable restrooms (I guess that's what the website means when it boasts that they bring "authentic smells to every corner of the hotel"). We were so frustrated and disappointed by the rooms that we decided to cut our two-night stay short by a night within an hour of arriving. I wish I could give the hotel a higher rating, as the staff, the food, and the excursions were all excellent. But we went into this stay expecting much more refined accommodations and we just couldn't recover from that disappointment after a long travel day.
