***** Here’s What You Need to Know ***** From an American tourist Yes, the rooms are a little long in the tooth, but you are probably for only going to sleep there. Our room had a real, American-dimensions, king-sized bed with a perfect mattress. I wish my shower at home had pressure like the one in our room. The individual air conditioner gets the temperature as cool as you want. Spacious lobby with lots of nooks for privacy. A full-service bar with super-reasonable prices. Dining room with white tablecloths and napkins and servers in immaculate white jackets. Lairton Lima de Sousa and Rafael Conceicão dos Santos made every meal a pleasure! Finally, the conference facilities are first rate and surprising for such a small town.

The old wing need a new renovation, the rooms in this area still have old tv's. The look is not so good, but clean. Try to avoid the rooms near de stairs or the elevator, they are noisy. Good place for children. Remember to ask for the new wing, but when the hotel is crowded, they will only give you this type of room if you have 4 members in your family. The food is excellent, sometimes you feel in a SPA for thin people who needs to gain weight! =)

This is a hotel that is an ideal place for large conferences. Many roms for guests, many halls for conferences of all sorts. Decent food, served as buffets with an accepable variety for different tastes. Good and free Internet. Large reception area, also with bar. Large pool area. Rooms are clean, beds ok, but not very cosy. Noisy aircon. Fridge and an old TV. Just all you need for a conference, but not for a vacation venu. Friendly Staff, but no information brochures, maps, bikes or car for rent.

The hotel is located in a lovely town that attract tourists and events from all over. I was attending a conference in the congress facility adjoining the hotel. All of the expected facilities and services were efficiently provided. Although the staff of the hotel and the conference facility spoke rather little English, they were always friendly and helpful so it hardly mattered not being able to speak Portuguese. However, the décor and fittings are rather tired: more like ‘majestic’ 60 years ago, though adequate for a shortish stay. My room was cold at night, but I managed to warm it up by keeping the fan heater on. The wifi was sufficient, the bed and bedding comfortable and the catering was excellent – as a vegetarian I always found something delicious, especially the wide selection of salads, fruits and desserts, plus something nice to be found amongst the mains. The only slight irritation was having to pay for drinks, even water and coffee, in addition to the full board. Since my stay was paid by the conference I was attending, it’s hard to evaluate value for money, but I didn’t feel anything was seriously lacking, just that the place felt a little old-fashioned. The conference facility was ok, though air conditioning was noisy in some of the meeting rooms, and the projectors, microphones and screen locations were not the very best. Flat seating only works in large rooms if the screen is very high. But overall, I found the hotel and event facility sufficient for an international conference, even if not really ‘majestic’.

I found this review quite difficult as the hotel really had some very positive features alongside some very poor ones - so please use the information according to your personal needs. First, the positives: a no-chills hotel, very suitable for children, with great monitors and activity for all very young and teens alike. The food, while not fancy or pretentious, is plentiful and varied, except for breakfast which was the same during my 3-night stay. The major plus was the night activities (the Festa Junina on Thursday were everything was free, including child activities and finger foods). The room is big and beds comfortable and clean. Internet is free across the hotel and fast and reliable. Finally, staff is very polite and caring, with a familiar and personal touch. Now for the bad (and this really depends on your needs): the hotel and rooms are very, very noisy; children are everywhere with their general scream/crying styles; but the worst is the horrible noise isolation in the rooms, really none whatsoever, so you hear every footstep outside the door and on the above rooms. If you stay in the beginning of the hall, be prepared for every person to pass by to make noises. If you are a light sleeper, just forget it... Other minor issues are rooms that are yet to be renovated with old 20-inch box tvs, old air conditioners, etc. The price of the hotel is not on par with those settings, as is not the charge for water (no free water whatsoever in the hotel - despite your being in a "water town"); finally the charge for the pinballs and electronic games should also be included in the overall rate as the hotel has a supposed full-board scheme. In summary, the hotel mixes top notch features with really awkward poor features so it is not a win-win for everyone. Be alert, but if you are not bothered by the bad issues, this could be a good hotel for a family visit.
