The hotel looks a bit shabby however the reception staff were friendly and efficient. Following registration, the initial pair of lifts we were directed to were very dated and only one worked. Operation was very rickety and erratic and did not instil confidence. We subsequently discovered another pair that were adequate. Our room was very basic and shabby looking with the only natural light via a light tunnel! The bed sheets were clean but well worn with some holes. The bar (small) was not available for our first two nights due to private functions and when used it was quite dark and in need of replacement lamps. The bar food menu was adequate. WiFi was readily available. The electrical sockets required a local adaptor as regular converters would not fit you were however able to borrow the required adapter from reception. The flat screen tv’s were adequate but the advertised BBC channel 98 had the DW station running instead so the only program in English was the CNN channel. Due to the temperature the air con was definitely required but the units were very old and extremely noisy. A positive point is that the location is very convenient for the local beach via a pedestrian bridge. The Metro is only one block away when turning right out of the hotel. Opposite the Metro is a very good three story fish restaurant (Berbigao) with reasonable prices and a good variety of dishes. This hotel room was booked for us by an agent and was a standard room. In hindsight we should have upgraded to a superior room with a front view (additional cost was only $112 US).

We stayed in hotel for three nights, was initially not very happy, very old linen and curtains, shower is leaking and there is no coffee in the room. We stayed in hotel for three nights, was initially not very happy, very old linen and curtains, shower is leaking and there is no coffee in the room. It is also very noisy, the aircon is old and is loud but you get use to it. One night at 3.30 they were playing football across the road on the field! However the view from the room is amazing, the bay and sugarloaf mountain. The parks around the hotel is beautiful and we walked far every day.
