While this hotel has lost its former glory, one can still see that it was once a 4-star hotel. The staff were extremely professional, particularly in the restaurant. They were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with yummy scrambled eggs, fresh and sweet fruit and other good variety of selections. The location was the reason why I chose this hotel - 3 minute walk to metro and 5 minute walk to aeroport bus services. Walkable distance to most attractions - even Paulista if you really want. However, the facilities were very tired and dated. Dark corridors; shaky door lock; no window lock - which was the biggest problem because we were on 3rd floor and although unlikely, there was possibility of break-in. Ask for rooms on higher floors would avoid this problem. I enjoyed staying in the hotel and I felt I have been well looked after. However, the surrounding streets are a little scary with many homeless people. So I would definitely come back if I were to stay in the Centro - however for security concerns I would probably consider staying in Paulista or Jardin area next time.

Friendly Staff. Comfortable. Rooms a little dated but sufficient. Good Location for visiting everything in Sao Paulo, Everyone seems to complain about the area being unsafe?, however it is no less unsafe than any other city in the world, as long as you do not advertise that you are a Tourist and you walk around in a group or not less that 2 people after hours, all is fine. Breakfast is sufficient but eggs to order would be great.

Hello I have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and first impression are that hotel is in the centre and it's very easy to get everywhere by subway or walk and have great breakfast option. Reception is very nice with lobby and there is plenty spaces to relax with drink of you want to be away from bedroom. It's located between lots of higher building so please do not expect nice view from bedrooms... Our bedroom was deluxe which was very large and bathroom was huge. Negatives ... If you want to keep Windows open you will hear a lot of noise coming out from the street and air condition in the hotel is quite loud as well. Otherwise hotel is kind of old style, decoration but it was nice... We visited lots of areas in São Paulo and also had a drinks in nice restaurant and bar next to our hotel with amazing view for whole town. Wifi could be better ... It was some areas where you did not have access and it's free.. Thanks Petr V.

If you are looking for a modern hotel do not go to the Gran Corona. This hotel is old style, vintage, but this is its charm. The rooms are showing their age, but they are clean and comfortable, breakfast is good (although a bit repetitive ), the restaurant is good, and in fact known in the area. The WiFi line works well in all rooms and in the lounge. The hotel is located a stone's throw from Praza da Republica, which means that the subway gets you quickly to other parts of the city. On this square every Sunday morning is a nice market where they sell all kinds of typical Brazilian artifacts. I've used this hotel for many years, I go to Sao Paolo at least three times every year for my job, and I always come back here because the staff is very helpful and friendly, it's nice to get there and feel welcome with your name and a warm handshake (or with a pat on the back, in the Brazilian manner). I know the staff, always willing to help (you have spotted a dress? Do you need the room to be made up at particular times? Need any directions to a store? ... ). Just outside you will find typical restaurants and shops, the area is not the best in town, this is not a tourist area, but it is safe and dangerous like the rest of the city, while here you can savor the true Sao Paulo.
