A review on a week-long stay in Bulgaria with Jet2Holidays. Overall it was a good holiday with a mix of highlights and a few minor issues. We went from Saturday 20th September to Saturday 27th September. The weather was fine enough from Saturday to Wednesday (can wear a t-shirt and shorts comfortably), but then it got quite chilly and windy for a holiday (needed to wear a jacket) from Thursday onwards. Hotel & Facilities The food at the hotel was very good, with plenty of meat and fish options. Breakfast was a particular favourite thanks to the delicious pancakes. The spa was another strong point—relaxing, clean, and a nice place to unwind. Both the outdoor and indoor pools were enjoyable, though not perfect. The outdoor pool itself was nice but often had leaves floating in it. The indoor pool was warm and pleasant, but the bottom could’ve been a bit cleaner. The lifts had a strange habit of closing and then reopening again, which got bothersome as the holiday went on. Beds were comfortable, and the rooms were cleaned regularly. The showers were strong—almost too powerful—but still good. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and generally very helpful. Drinks were impressively strong, especially the cocktails! A very impressive feature compared to other hotels. There were a lot of wasps around the outdoor areas, which became a bit annoying at times. The hotel’s private section on the beach was a great perk, offering a quieter place to relax, though the location felt somewhat far from the main action of Sunny Beach. The sea itself was nice to swim in, but full of seaweed and it would had been nice to be allowed to get deeper in the sea. Extras Around the Hotel We visited Helena Sands for the pool table—18 lev for an hour. It’s worth noting that drinks aren’t included in the all inclusive from Helena Park. The snack bar at the hotel was essentially a mini buffet, which was convenient when you didn’t want a full sit-down meal. Sunny Beach & Nessebar Sunny Beach has plenty of bars but surprisingly not that many restaurants, so food variety outside the hotel felt limited. The market was the usual repetitive holiday-market setup—very samey and quite tacky in places—but there are hidden gem shops if you look carefully. Nessebar was okay, but a slight let-down. We only managed to find one fully intact church; the other “churches” were mostly ruins or historical remains rather than functioning buildings. Transport Buses were very cheap, but extremely packed, making some journeys uncomfortable. The airport, both arriving and departing, could have been much better organised, which added unnecessary stress. To top it off, our plane was delayed both ways. Overall Despite a few annoyances—mostly transport-related and the occasional cleanliness issue—the holiday was enjoyable. Good food, friendly staff, great beach access, and relaxing facilities made it a pleasant stay. With a bit more organisation and a cleaner environment in certain areas, it could have been excellent.

“Amazing hotel”

Amazing hotel, lovely deco, great staff, the room was lovely and amazing the only thing what didn’t give the 5 out of 5 was the food the same every day what made us go out most nights

On arrival, we noted that the hotel is stunning. Its a lovely building in beautiful grounds, right on the beach. We arrived too late to have lunch in the restaurant so were advised to go to the snack bar by the pool. Unfortunately what put us off eating in there was that the food isnt completely covered, and there were quite a lot of flies landing on it. When we checked into our rooms we were pleasantly surpised with a plate of fruit and a bottle of wine. I'm not sure if this is normal practice, or because I had told them it was my sister in laws birthday. Although the hotel is rated 5 star, it is more like a 4 star for the following reasons: Choice of food was ok, but not outstanding. A vegan or vegetrarian would struggle to find something different to eat every day Coffee machines: Happy with these overall, the hot chocolate was amazing, however when I want a hot drink in the evening, I would prefer it in a cup or mug, not a paper cup. Bathrooms: very dated and as a fairly fit person, very hard to get out of the bath due to how steep it is. A disabled or elderly person would not be able to shower or use the bath. There is one bar area and one comfortable lounge area. We enjoy playing games in the evening so would use the bar as the tables were at a better height for this, but it gets extremely noisy in there. Maybe some higher tables and chairs in the upstairs lounge could be installed for this reason. Sorry, but the entertainment was pretty bad. More suitable to a 3 star hotel. I know the animation team work hard, but I think some more outside acts would be good. Sadly we didnt find the staff very friendly.. The day before we left, all the mattresses for the sunbeds had been moved to a downstairs storage area. When I asked the young lady in the towel hut where I could get one from, she pointed and said, down there. I feel that she should have got it for me. Sounding very contradictory now, for the price we paid, it was really good value, but woud have been more disappointed if I had paid a lot more. Would we come back? Not sure, but I would still recommend it to people who want a good budget break in a nice hotel
