“Shabby Chic ”

Receptionist ( lady with Yorkshire terrier) was very helpful and polite, secure parking and a short walk into the city centre, accomodation could do with an update but then I guess the price would go up. Was my second overnight here and I will be back in 2020. Plovdiv is one of my favourite cities.

The guesthouse is very close to the old town, 5 minutes by feet. Pluses: big, clean room, with both bed and sofa, a small kitchen (with sink and fridge), nice personnel, good food (we only ate the breakfast, which was included in the room price). The guesthouse is very close to the old town, 5 minutes by feet. Pluses: big, clean room, with both bed and sofa, a small kitchen (with sink and fridge), nice personnel, good food (we only ate the breakfast, which was included in the room price). Free parking in front of the building. All the main attractions were near-by. An ice rink was also close by. Minus: poor English language knowledge among the staff; we visited it in November and there was heat only from the AC not a radiator, so you had to turn it on and off; but it was ok overall, once under the covers, you didn't feel the cold; poor wi-fi signal; no shower curtain in the bath. I recommend the free city tour with the lovely guide, Illya (or Elijah in English) - a very passionate, dedicated person, he made the tour very interesting. In the last day there, we ate at this nice resturant, Smokini, and since it was their one year anniversary (1st of December) they gave us free cake there and a small bottle of wine (to go) as a gift.

“Close to the main attractions”

The hotel is nice and with little restaurant where they deserve you breakfast. got parking place. Wifi working well. no air conditioner in the room And nobody at the reception. Bur generally good value for the money.

We stayed here for 3 nights in November in the double ensuite, located below ground (NOT ground floor). I really wanted to like this place. Pluses: 1) Free breakfast included, freshly cooked to order 2) Very kind, helpful staff 3) Excellent location just on the edge of Old Town, on a quiet street 4) Free wifi throughout 5) Secure building 6) Good number of outlets in the rooms Minuses: 1) The copy says the ensuite doubles are on the "ground floor." They are BELOW ground, and the rooms and especially baths smell of mildew, standing water, and dry rot/sewage. There are intense plumbing issues. 2) We notified the owner that when showering, the water was leaking UNDER the floor, and coming up to the tile floor. They immediately moved us to another ensuite...with an even worse mildewy smell. In November, we opened all the windows to air it out. 3) There are many things broken that aren't being maintained or fixed; the electric kettle in the room's kitchen had a broken base, and water went everywhere; shelves are missing, with only brackets left behind; taps are loose; no hot water in the bath sinks. It's obvious there has been care put into the design of this place, but the wear and tear is noticeable and feels uncared for. 4) Some of the beds are ROCK hard- you can feel the springs. But others are fine.
