I met up with a friend from Victoria Island and we stayed in the Somerset room. The room was lovely and we were able to enjoy the balcony and the amazing view. We found the area great for walking along the sea paths to downtown and then back through the park (my friend had lived in Victoria and was familiar with the area). The breakfasts were delicious each morning and the atmosphere in the dining area created a welcoming environment; it was easy to either keep to ourselves or socialize and meet other guests. The staff were wonderful, on my final day I had time to chat with each of them while I waited to go to the airport. It was easy to keep my luggage in the office area while I enjoyed coffee and freshly baked treats while each of them ladies checked in on me and we chatted. I found everything about Dashwood Manor to be amazing, our room was wonderful and very quiet; I could have stayed longer but I was aware that my friend needed to return to work. There were lots of great places within walking distance to go for food or coffee within 10 minutes. I was sad to have to return to Ontario, there is something special about B.C. And Dashwood Manor is an excellent example of why B.C. is so amazing. It is worth it to treat yourself to a stay here and try one of the rooms with a balcony, they are beautiful (they showed us the larger one too).

The Dashwood Manor is a lovely mix of elegant charm and modern amenities. It felt secure with each guest receiving a personalized code for the front entrance and you could come and go as you wished. We booked the Somerset Waterview because it had its own balcony and partial view of the sea. Inclement weather prevented us from enjoying the balcony but we appreciated being able to step out for a breath of sea air. One comment is that the patio door does not have a screen so that you can leave it open for air at night; this would be a request that I would make in advance to ensure they provide one. The bed was very comfortable. At the time, they were not providing daily service for our 3 night stay but after 2 nights and the nights were warm, I requested that the bed and towels be changed. There was absolutely no problem with this request. Our very spacious bathroom had been recently renovated and was immaculate. The soaker tub was a nice treat since we do not have one at home and welcome at the end of a long hiking day. The breakfasts were delicious! We were behind 3 hours travelling from the east so we were awake very early and headed to the breakfast room to catch up on emails and news and ahead of the 8:30am start for breakfast. But the ladies could not have been more gracious and helpful and started the coffee and breakfast earlier. They had a daily menu set up but were very agreeable to changing it up for individual requests. The breakfast room is cheery, tastefully decorated and the view to the dog park, walking paths and sea beyond is a calming place to start your day. I highly recommend this manor. The access to the beach and walking paths is right across the road. Access to downtown is only minutes away. Parking is free. Only 2 bewares: There is no elevator in the manor so if you have an issue with stairs, then you may have difficulty bringing your luggage up and down as well as every other trip to your room. The second beware is in regards to driving in the city; the bike lanes do not require bikers, or walkers, to stop for the red lights. So if you are trying to traverse the roadways and have to make a turn, you need to be very aware of the bike lane on your right or left; they do not have to stop or yield. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dashwood Manor, our first trip to Victoria, and would not hesitate to stay there again. With many thanks! Martha and Bill

We spent 4 delightful nights in the main floor Windsor Oak room. What a spacious, beautiful room, from the fireplace to the jacuzzi tub, the robes, to the room amenities. The breakfast room is lovely, with ocean views. And the meals are varied and delicious. The breakfast room also has treats, coffee, tea and cold refreshments available 24/7. You don’t see that very often! Also, the conversation among the other guests can be fun and friendly and you might make new friends. I must comment on the friendliness and kindness of the staff. They certainly make you feel welcome. The area is very walkable, along the beach road, or through the beautiful Beacon Hill Park, or exploring Cook Street, and very easy access to the downtown area. We walked almost everywhere, only using a bus once to travel to Butchart Gardens. We will definitely return. Thanks you for your great hospitality.

“Excellent value and service!!”

Absolutely excellent service and setting!! Such a good value for the money. Will be back for sure. Stayed in the Oxford Grand room and thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our room.
