Location was a little further away from the centre of town than we would have preferred, but the hotel itself was great. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. We used the pool which was warm and clean. The Loft, which was the pub onsite, had live entertainment and food available. We ate there one night and it was enjoyable. We were leaving early in the morning at 7.45 on the day we departed, and there was no opportunity for breakfast at the hotel (or anywhere locally) .

“A responsive host”

This is an excellent place to stay in Victoria, 15 minutes to Downtown by car or transit. Anything found lacking is dealt with immediately. All the desk, cleaning, restaurant staff are courteous and helpful. The Loft pub is a popular spot, with live local music, so hold onto your parking stall.

I stayed here from April 25-29 for 4 days, I had taken the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria and then a bus to get to this hotel, the bus took over an hour to get to the stop that I got off at to walk to the hotel. The stop I got off at was called Douglas & Finlayson – Mayfair which was in front of a car dealership and it took about 15-20 minutes to get here, which when I arrived at the hotel I walked into the lobby and checked in, they took my id and credit card, the CC was to add a $150 deposit as the Vancouver hotel did, in case of damages and would be reversed once I left, and it was reversed after I left. This place had a large window and several chairs for seating and a fireplace and a bar called the loft pub, the pub had food which I ordered bacon cheese burger, fries (the reception lady mentioned for me to ask for them to substitute the regular fries with sweet potatoes at no cost), I got them and a poutine and they gave a small side salad. The pub played live music as well. It took so long to get my food because it was very busy but once it did come I took the food to my room, it cost more than $20, I think closer to $30 and let’s say it was expensive for what I got and the food was only okay, the poutine wasn’t that good, only okay, the burger and sweet potato fries where the better part of the meal, the side salad was okay.. Overall, the food was just okay as I mentioned. My room was located past the reception and the pub down the hallway through the single door, you go right then the first right and through the door and down the other hallway to the backside of the hotel then to the left and halfway down the walkway, I was in room 250 which faced the parking lot. The room had AC, 2 double beds, side table, back boards, an open closet, ironing board with iron, desk, phone, Keurig machine with Van Houte coffee pods (gross coffee brand), tv, shelf, mini fridge (empty as usual), several chairs, sink and mirror, toilet and shower. Room was okay, coffee brand isn’t very good, I had Van Houte before and I don’t really like the brand but I sadly still drank it. The empty mini fridge as like in Vancouver could have had pop as well as the coffee, I mean for a $200 a night hotel they could have provided pop as well. This hotel didn’t provide a continental which I noticed that when I booked it, none of the hotels in Victoria provided breakfast which for $200 a night, you’d think they could have provided guests this; irony is they had an unused restaurant more than capable to provide a continental breakfast so this really irked me. The area the hotel was located in was very nice, lots of trees, shrubs, bushes and the like so I really liked that, there were restaurants and stores within 15-25 minutes, I had subway on several occasions and I went to a gas station which I really shouldn’t have because it wasn’t necessary, I wasted almost $10 for 2 bottles of pop and a bag of chips. Bussing was nearby but I never used it during the 4 days I stayed here, I walked a lot which really made my feet sore but I also was glad to get the exercise which I needed. So, if I ever come back to Victoria, BC, I might stay here again but I hope one day they include breakfast, add pop to the fridge and change the brand of coffee they provide. When I checked-out I was asked about feedback and I had mentioned about the door that led to the walkway to the rooms and I said that the door card scanner was put in backwards; so on day 2 my card stopped working on my room door so when I went to go to reception the door that went into the building has a card scanner and I realized that I couldn’t even get into the building because the darn lock on that door should be on the inside so that people can’t just get to the area of the rooms but guests can get back into the building (I don’t know how the builders or the owners of the hotel missed this mistake), that was an issue of safety of the guests rooms being accessible to anyone that wants to walk into the building, there are main doors to the hotel literally 15-20 feet next to those doors and the main door had a card scanner on the outside of the building which was on the right side of the doors…. After I told the guy me feedback, he said that he’ll pass this information onto management. One thing I forgot to mention as feedback was about the lack of breakfast available and that for $200 a night you’d think they’d include breakfast in a brand name hotel. I did like this hotel, my room was nice, though I didn’t like the coffee so much, they could get a different brand or better flavors, though a different brand would be better, the area was lovely, the pub food wasn’t that good, only okay. The wasted restaurant space could have been utilized for breakfast but they never did which was dumb. I would probably come back just to see if that door is fixed and if anything else changes, so I will see. 4.5 of 5 for a nice and relaxed hotel 4.5 of 5 for lovely hotel room 2.5 of 5 for terrible coffee, no breakfast, average pub food 3.75 of 5 overall for everything

What you would expect from A 3 star hotel. Not close to anything except Glo restaurant which is a 10 minute walk and worth it for dinner. We had two double beds that were very hard. The room was also quite small. The pool doesn’t have a hot tub and the water was quite cloudy. Ice machine and paid laundry on site. No elevator and all rooms connect to another room so you can hear the people if they are loud.
