“Excellent hotel - room, location and staff”

Beautiful, comfortable, clean facilities; excellent location AND view of the river!! (right by the waterfront and connecting to the train station.) Staff were very helpful, and had no problem at all with a very late arrival. Also very convenient to rent a car right in the hotel.

We just returned from a memorable trip to Halifax. I will never stay anywhere other than the Westin Nova Scotian. The location was perfect and the room was kept clean and well stocked by the friendliest and most helpful room attendant (she cleans room 344 Mon- Fri, I wish I could remember her name to give her a proper shout out). All the staff, especially the door men, were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant was delicious and had a great atmosphere. Nothing but praise from us regarding this hotel!

“I love it”

Spic and span. Not a spot anywhere. Plenty of hot water instantly, no need to wait for warm-up. Very friendly and courteous staff. Superb location, one can walk everywhere. Swimming pool is a bit small but giving it a historical building, this is just a speck of blemish that I choose to ignore.

Hotel is in a good location, the lobby is opulent and staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is easy, out back come & go as you please, plenty of spaces. The room itself was lacklustre though unfortunately - I paid (quite a bit) extra for a "premium" harbour view room and whilst it did have a harbour view, for 2 of the 3 days it was obscured by a giant cruise ship and then thick fog. Nothing the hotel can do about that so its not their fault, but I do feel the extra spend was wasted. Only 2 coffee sachets for a 3 day stay, no mini bar, 1 bottle of water. The furnishings are dated, even the shower is quite vintage. The room is small compared to others Ive stayed at, especially the bathroom. Cant shower with the door open because theres not enough room to get in the shower with it open. The toilet is pretty much a bar/pub toilet (no tank on the back, just a lever to flush), seems out of place and a bit cheap. The bed is comfy, and the lighting in the bathroom is good for hair&makeup. The curtains dont close fully, there are gaps in the middle and along the bottoms, so if you dont wear an eye mask expect to get woken up very early by the light streaming in. Doors slam quite loud, can hear neighbours coming and going at all hours. The gym is big and decent amount of equipment. Pool was quiet and nice, although I didnt use that. Didnt eat at the restaurant, but the server made me a coffee which was pretty good (but expensive, almost $6 for a large) Overall, I probably wont go back unless theres a really good deal on a room because at over $550 a night (w/ parking) for a harbour view that I didnt get to see for 70% of the time, not really enough space to "hang out" in the room, no breakfast included.... I'd rather pay less and go elsewhere for more value for money. Also the Bonvoy app sucks and only occasionally works.
