Sadly GWL is not what it was…prices go up and what you get goes down. We rent a cottage each year. Always 1501 as it is an accessible cottage. When booking in months in advance, that is what was requested. When we got there, whomever had taken the reservation(by phone) had reversed the numbers and gave us 1510. The person on the desk argued with my husband, and said he could “pull the records” to prove they were right. That never did happen, as after 35 minutes we were all standing in the fire pit area waiting to get inside as it was cold and drizzly. Said forget it…made for an awkward time for me using the bathroom for three days. We had unpacked our belongings, and had luggage carts full. We were not prepared to reload everything into the car while it was sorted out. They tried to make amends by giving us free bowling and laser tag. Being in a leg brace, and using a cane, that really didn’t help me out. We arrived inside finally and unloaded and unpacked. No longer is there a Keurig supplied…instead some very lousy tasting coffee packs. Too bad as we had brought a variety of Keurig pods for 5 adults for our various tastes as in the past. We had to call for a repair as first person to use the upstairs toilet, it wouldn’t flush. Had to call to have a side chair(which was requested at booking and didn’t get) brought as I cannot climb over the bench seating at the dining table seating. Then we had to call for more hand towels. Kitchen ware is worn, the egg lifter broken. At this point it was the middle of making breakfast, and really didn’t feel like calling again to the front desk. Furniture is worn and tired. The occasional chair had a spring that poked you when you sat down. Area rug is missing from the livingroom. Someone half heartedly tried to paint over gouges and scratches on the walls, only the paint didn’t match. For As for touting “Cheers to 20 years” one would expect a major refresh. Not sure after FIVE years of booking a cottage that we will be back.

Our family had a great time here. The resort was clean and every single staff member we encountered was friendly. The food at Barnwood restaurant was amazing! The pizza from Northwoods, however, was a bit disappointing. The waterpark got very crowded. I wish the waterpark was open a little later (it closed at 8 pm) which might help with the crowds. I did appreciate that it opened early at 9 am though. The neighborhood around the lodge didn’t look the nicest, but it was a short drive to visit Niagara Falls.

Great place for the family! This was our first trip there and we’ll definitely be going back! Loved that everything was in one place and we never had to leave, staff was friendly and the lodge and water park were very clean.
