This hotel is truly a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, the check-in process was seamless and straightforward. The room was clean, spacious, and modern, featuring a full kitchen, washer, dryer, and a bathroom with all the amenities, including a rain shower. The location is conveniently close to a variety of restaurants, making it easy to explore the local dining scene. Our experience with the manager (Carlos) was exceptional—he was attentive to our needs and clearly takes great pride in his establishment. As a person of color, I had an outstanding experience here, which speaks volumes about the hotel's commitment to inclusivity. Without a doubt, I would place this hotel in my top five places to stay in Montreal.

When I booked this hotel it was marketed as contactless and automatic, no staff on site, very high tech. When I arrived I immediately had an issue checking in through their web-portal, despite a security check they initiated via email, 72 hours prior. I simply could not get into the building using the passcode provided. I ended up calling their support and someone let me into the building and had me wait in a lobby area for 15-20 minutes. A nice man showed up and explained they “have issues with the web-portal and don’t really use it”. The issue was the portal did not request a credit card needed for security if booked through a third party. I gave a credit card, they made sure it was good and I got my passcode. Annoying after a red eye flight and killing 5 hours until the 3pm check in but understandable. The Good: 1. lovely clean room with a concrete, industrial aesthetic 2. comfortable bed 3. very nice, accommodating staff 4. great location with 10-15 minutes walk to downtown; restaurants and pubs much closer The Not So Good: 1. a victim of its own designed high-tech, I realized at 11pm the automatic blinds did not work, nor the tv (no cable or streaming) and the lights were tricky (one button off/on for all room lights sometimes did not work). I slept with the blinds open (i did not want to break them by manually closing them). Inexplicably one light would not turn off so slept with it on. 2. The next day I mentioned these issues and got a new room. The tv worked in the new room, lights were more cooperative, but automatic blinds still did not work. The nice man at the front desk stated I could close them manually. 3. On check out I tried to use the web application to check out as per their instructions, it did not work and I ended up calling their office site support number and was told, “all is well. We don’t use the web application for checking out anymore.” Frustrating as I had a plane to catch and this cost me time.

Beautiful, hi-tech room. The first impression walking into the room was awesome - I won't give it away, you just have to experience it :-) While some of our experience was a bit negative, I think it's because we didn't research enough (see below). Once we were checked in and parked, it was an overwhelmingly positive experience. I wanted to write this review to help others have a 5-star experience. If you're not very techie, you might find the experience kind of frustrating. The check in process, the coffee machine, even the lights and blinds are all more than my own parents (70 years old) would be able to handle or enjoy, so just keep that in mind. Some of my takeaways: - The bed, pillows and blankets are INSANELY comfortable - They have awesome robes provided that come in all sizes - Heated floor optional - Fantastic AC/Heat Some things that are really important to know: - They don't have onsite parking, but there is a city lot on the corner for $20 per day that is first come/first serve. Otherwise, street parking (good luck). It's a nice area, but I'd make sure you put anything you're not bringing into the hotel into the trunk to prevent a broken window/theft (we were warned it has happened on occasion). There is an underground parking garage somewhere in the area that is more secure (not sure how much it costs), but I didn't feel the need to explore that further. - If you are traveling with someone, you need to know: the bathrooms are all glass walls and doors, and so lightly frosted you can see through it fairly clearly. There's also a gap all the way around the door, so there is zero sound barrier. I'm sure it's very divided who cares and who doesn't care, but I just want to make sure those that care, know. - The only coffee on the property is in the lobby, and it's only available until noon. They also don't offer to-go cups, you can only drink it at the hotel, and there isn't much by way of sugars/creamers. There are plenty of coffee shops nearby, I just found the above quite inconvenient for me personally. - You need to read the email about Check-In as soon as you book. They will send you an email 72 hours before your arrival and you MUST follow the check in process online before your check-in time to get your building and room code. You CAN NOT get into the building without following that process. With that being said, if you don't book directly through Boxotel, they are having many issues with that email never being sent. For us, we booked through Chase, didn't get the email, and unfortunately we didn't read the fine print on the booking email to even realize it was missing. Luckily, as we were standing outside, there was someone that works on the property monitoring the cameras and came to let us in. From there we had to use the property phone to call customer service and they gave us the codes. The whole ordeal was 5 minutes, so while we were kind freaking out as we stood outside finally reading the fine print from the booking email, the gentleman came to save us within minutes and it was a quick phone call to correct. With all that being said - I would still highly recommend!
