Felix at the east restaurant in the hotel is an excellent attendant to the customers. We had experienced a 14 hour train trip from NYC and arrived almost at closing time. Felix was very helpful in our selection of menu items and adult beverages. Over our 2 day stay we ate at the restaurant 3 times. We look forward to seeing Felix on our next visit to Montreal.great restaurant and hotel accommodations.

“Off to a slow start but…”

When I arrived at 2:00 pm local time I asked if my room could be made available as I had several virtual meetings to attend and I did not want to take these calls in the lobby. When I arrived at 2:00 pm local time I asked if my room could be made available as I had several virtual meetings to attend and I did not want to take these calls in the lobby. I was met with a dower non enthusiastic “nope” to my question about room availability. I indicated that I am a Gold Elite member but that seemed to also fall flat. I was told that check in time is 4:00 PM I set up my laptop in the lobby and tried to do some work. Approx 30 minutes later, I was told by the same now smiling person that my room was ready and an upgrade had been provided. Wonderful response but hotels need to remember that first impressions in life matter and as a first time guest at this expensive hotel, I did not feel very welcomed receiving a grunt upon arrival and being made to feel that my presence was an inconvenience Overall the hotel is lovely, quiet and full of meaningful amenities I should mention that I had a rental vehicle and while the hotel handles this portion quite well, the valet service begins at 7:00 AM and I had a 6:00 AM flight. In my case, I was given instructions to go and find my car at the hotel’s lot across the street and that was a demanding task at 4:30 AM to try and locate my car. Make note of this inconvenience if you have an early flight like I did.

The lobby of the Renaissance Montreal Hotel is a welcoming treat. We were there in October, and a fire (electric) was often dancing in a wall hearth which added a nice warmth to the modern decor. We were there with our grandchildren (ages 7 and 10), and there was a SWING in the lobby which they loved. Receptionists Audrey and Joanne were particularly helpful and friendly in making suggestions and adjustments to our room in order to better accommodate our stay with young children. The restaurant off the lobby offered delicious meals with an Asian flair and the Crepes Classique and Crepes Renaissance were a delightful surprise. Server Gabriel was kind, friendly, and efficient. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, but we found the wall paintings of large faces - in our rooms, created with wide brush strokes of black paint - jarring. The hotel was convenient to a nearby mall with an expansive food court and arcade, and the fabulous Indigo bookstore was a block or two away. The old city was about a 15 minute walk.

“Decent modern hotel in the business area of Montreal”

The hotel is fine, and breakfast in the restaurant was good. The location is a good 30 minute walk to the old part of Montreal. No bars or coffee shops near the hotel. You need to walk up to the Eaton Square shopping centre , but check when that opens.
