“Would stay again”

We had a great stay at the W Montreal. The room was recently renovated and clean and they even surprised us with a bottle to celebrate a birthday. Maurizio was a fantastic help ensuring our stay was perfect.

This New Yorker needed a hotel within walking distance to the Bell Centre to see Paul McCartney and i'm so glad i chose the W Montreal. The room was perfect and everything was brand new .Good breakfast in the dining room and the Vinyl bar was a lot of fun. The main reason i gave this W, 5 stars was the fantastic Chef Concierge MIREILLE who had a lot of patience with me during my 3 night stay. She helped me with walking directions to the Bell Centre and even helped me figure out how to book an uber to the airport.The whole front desk staff always greeted me with smiles when entering the W. If and when i do return to Montreal I will stay at this W . Thank You

“Great Location, but not a true 'Luxury' Experience.”

My fiance and I stayed at the W hotel for a birthday getaway. We had stayed during the winter a few years ago and had a wonderful experience, so we figured we'd return. I'll go through each facet of the hotel: Check-In & Concierge: Smooth, the front desk team is super friendly, polite and helpful, which I think makes a difference. My fiance's family works within Marriott, so was slightly disappointed that we did not get offered an upgraded room (we did last time), but alas, a nice room nonetheless. The Room: We stayed in one of the "Mega" Suites - decently sized, with a large desk and chaise lounge. Full soaker tub and separate shower, which is nice. Toilet is also separated by a door. Only one sink though. The bathroom is also 'open concept', but there are curtains to close the bathroom off if you want privacy. The view was ..not great lol. Amenities: This is where W loses a lot of points, and brings my rating from a 5 to a 4. Some examples: - At concierge (or near the elevators), there used to be infused water (at least in 2023) - this is such a small touch that I think really adds to the experience of being at a higher end hotel. Since our last stay, they've replaced it with a filtered water system. It's...okay. Not cold. and seems impersonal. - The 'Gym': you can tell that it there was an intention to have it fully staffed at one point, but my sense is that it is not widely used, and as such they abandoned this plan. Regardless, there are guests still using it sporadically, and it should be stocked accordingly. There were no cups by the water machine, and the cleaning wipes for equipment was empty. - Room Amenities / Cleaning: The clock was wrong and had not been adjusted for daylight savings. We started off with 2 robes..for whatever reason the cleaning staff took one away and didn't replace it one of the days. One day another cleaning staff left a dirty cleaning cloth in the bathroom lol. There was an inadequate amount of larger towels. They didn't replace my shower cap. Again, it's not like this is completely necessary, but I think it takes away from that 'higher end' experience. I think there's just a lack of attention to detail. - Gaming Room: We never used it, it is pretty small and you have to pay for use (but apparently drinks/food included). Location: The major plus of this hotel is how close you are to old montreal. Literally steps away. 10 min walk away from the train station. 15 min walk away from the Eaton Centre and you can take the underground path (which the concierge was very helpful in giving us navigation instructions!) So here's what I'll say overall - if you're looking for a hotel that has a strong location with decent rooms, then this is an ideal hotel. If you are looking for a hotel experience, then look else where. The lack of attention to detail has me wondering if there's been a management change, and is worthy of addressing.
