We have traveled extensively in Europe and have found this place and area to be one of the best. The room avd veranda have everything you might want or need. The connected restaurant was cozy and exquisite food. The value and quality are not to be missed!,,,

On arrival we received a warm welcome from Anda (The owner) who showed us a lovely spacious impeccably clean room with a veranda overlooking the town which is only a five minute walk. There is free parking and Wi-Fi which has a strong signal. The restaurant is excellent with their own high class Chef. All the staff were very helpful and friendly - nothing was a trouble - one morning the breakfast room was full but the staff ensured we had our meal by setting up a table especially for us in the adjacent bar area. The town has numerous very good restaurants - all within 10-15 minutes walking distance. The Austrian border is only 10 minutes drive away and we went to Salzburg which was just one hour away. I would imagine in winter with snow the town would be even more picturesque,

“Charming Inn in a beautiful location”

This was our second visit to this charming and genuine Bavarian inn. Once again we found it friendly, spotless and well equipped for a country inn. This was our second visit to this charming and genuine Bavarian inn. Once again we found it friendly, spotless and well equipped for a country inn. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were excellent. Beds are clean, big and comfy - loads of extra pillows, duvets, towels and linen. We had a lovely 2 bedroom-ed apartment with a separate sitting room for 4 nights including 16 vast breakfasts - the charge was 486 euros all told. The people were great - the cook left a fresh baked apple strudel in our apartment for us one day because she wanted us to eat a great one. We would not hesitate to return.

I called the Hotel Oberschmeid to make our reservations. The staff member did not speak English, but quickly got Christian to the phone to assist me. He promptly made my reservation and gave me a discount as he said they were having a special since it was slow this season. We booked the family apartment. When we arrived, (thanks to our GPS--we drove straight there!) the front office lady was absolutely charming and spoke very little English. She still got all the main points across to us and showed us to our extremely spacious and impressively clean room. It really wasn't a room it was a two story apartment with a small but well appointed kitchen. Living room with fold out sofa. Dining area with table and chairs. Bathroom with shower on lower floor. Wood spiral stair case to upstairs (also can be reached from upper floor entrance door from main hotel hallway. Upstairs is a huge bedroom with desk, amoire, and bathroom with toilet and sink. We had joked that our room will probably be "stuck in the back" of the hotel...well it was BUT we still had two large decks. The deck of the kitchen living room had a nice recliner/outdoor lounger and a table for dining--but best of all a quite lovely view of the church and the mountains beyond. We had no issue at all with being in the back. The linens were all well kept and our room was spotless every day. Our very reasonable rate included a white linen table cloth buffet breakfast. There were meats, cheeses, breads, yogurt, dry cereal and fruits. Drinks were coffee, tea, hot cocoa (highly recommended), milk, and several juices. The cereal was a bit stale but everything else was wonderful. You could also order sack lunches to take with you on your adventures--we didn't do this as we made our own in our kitchen. There is a bar there, but due to the fact that there were only three rooms occupied during our stay--I don't believe they opened it. Maybe only during ski season or on weekends? The church bells didn't bother us a bit in the morning. Only negative is that the do lock the exit doors after hours and the front door you have to have a key to get OUT--which seemed like a major safety issue. The back door to the parking lot you could open without the key from the inside. I would absolutely stay here again! And the town was darling. There was a Penny market for inexpensive groceries at the edge of town. Many restaurants--our favorite was a very old log building by the park with the bandstand---at the bottom of the small ski run right in town. We used this as our base to go to Konig See and Eagle's Nest--both were a little over an hour drive. The drive was scenic, so we didn't mind...but for some it may be too far away. We swam in the lakes along the way and had a fun family beach day at the lake in Austria at Walchsee.
