Spent almost a week at Inti & Killa, impression is very favourable, and surely would come back. Structure is very good, and the location, while not in the very heart of San Pedro de Atacama, is well within walking distance, with the benefit of extra tranquility. Minor improvements in room maintenance would grant it 5 stars.

Very nice staff here. Prices are great. Rooms are very acceptable but simple: bed, bathroom, some shelves, clean sheets, clean room, clean bathroom. Very nice staff here. Prices are great. Rooms are very acceptable but simple: bed, bathroom, some shelves, clean sheets, clean room, clean bathroom. Two derogatory comments: the pool is small, cold and not well filtered. If you want to get wet, it is good; if you want to hand out, it might be a little gamey. Second: we were there during Carnivale-not the one in Brazil. It is a regional customer where folks go to a patrons house, drink...perhaps eat a little... and then march around town all night long in a cacophonous drunken stupor. We were there 2 or 3 nights and the noise really impinged upon restful sleep but the place was so nice in a rather spartan town, thus the positives outweigh the negatives which presumably don't occur more than a couple of weeks a year.

“Great deal for the price”

We stayed 3 nights in the Inti & Killa hostal in San Pedro de Atacama. We booked double room through despegar.com. We arrived to San Pedro in the morning and were expecting just to leave our luggage, but they let us into the room early. The girl at the reception did not speak English, and it took us some time to understand that she was asking for a booking number, but finally it was resolved. Then she showed us around (the dining room and the pool), and took us to our room. The room was clean, it had one queen and one twin bed, a dresser, a small fridge and a table with chair. The bathroom had a shower, soap and shampoo. There was no air conditioning, but fortunately it was not very hot when we were there at the end of February. The walls are thin so you can sometimes hear the neighbors. The breakfast was pretty good: bread, cheese, ham, cereal with milk or yogurt, juice, tea and instant coffee. Unfortunately we could enjoy it only once since breakfast starts at 7:30, and we had to be ready for a tour at that time. As other reviewers mentioned, WiFi signal is not strong enough to reach some of the rooms, but one can go into the common room or the courtyard. The location is alright. San Pedro is a small town, so one can easily walk from the hostal to the center in about 10 minutes. It was a good deal for the price.

This was our second visit. We stayed in two rooms for 4 nights. There have been improvements. The rooms we had were older and the bathrooms in poor condition. Hot and cold water that was very difficult to adjust without scalding or freezing. The shower stalls had deep rust places. There are new rooms that looked very nice which are reserved for larger groups. They overlook a garden. I would suggest paying extra for those. The pool was a delight after hot days of hiking but all the lounge chairs were either broken plastic or metal with no cushions. The place is very convenient to town, a short walk and has indoor parking. Rooms were clean and they provide a small refrigerator if you want. Receptionists clueless to tourist information. And reception area very run down. Breakfast is adequate and if you go to Tatio they will provide a snack at 4 am you can pick up on the way out.

Pros: -Spacious room that was impeccably clean. -Fridge in room -Friendly staff -No AC not necessary as cool during the day and sufficiently warm (with blanket provided) at night. Of note, we were there during the month of March. Cons: -Wi-fi in the reception area but no Wi-Fi in the room -Hot water was spotty. If you ran the shower long enough, you would usually get hot water...but one hates to waste water, especially in the desert. -Breakfast was lackluster and did not change from day to day (rolls, jam, butter, cereal, powdered milk, ham, cheese, one fruit). One day they ran out of food. Although, it seems that breakfasts at hotels in San Pedro are generally not great. Other: -Staff don't speak much English but if you know a little Spanish, you will be fine. -Staff very nice but reception was not always staffed and it could be a nuisance to track someone down. -Parking is outside during the day. At night, they recommend bringing the car inside the compound given the dust at night. If staff was not around, it was a pain to find someone to unlock the parking area to bring the car in/out. -There is a small pool but we only used it once for about 10 minutes as whatever chemicals they use to treat the water caused the eyes to burn. -No hairdryer or Kleenex in the room. If you anticipate needing either, bring your own. -Slightly out outside of town. Not an issue for us as we had a car. Giving it 3 stars due to the hot water issue, no wi-fi in room, and difficulty tracking down staff at times. If none of these elements are important to you, then you will be happy here.
