What worked well: 1. Location 2. Friendly staff- Chen Jn in Concierge was the best 3 Gym What can be improved: 1.Well, the internet was what really that I felt should be better as we couldn’t stream most of the things we wanted. 2.Egg station no variety please note the breakfast is more of chinese. 3.Coffee was really bitter 4. Out bathroom leaked.Need to redo some grouting or something as it would flow to the floor 5. The safe is the old model you have to have a key( very inconvenient as you can loose it!

“Nice neighbourhood”

Good place to stay, nice neighborhood, surrounding with shop, cafe, restaurant, mall, and park. For foreign, you must well prepared yourself with google translator since you will hardly find people with english ability in here, not even basic english.

“Short Stay for business trip”

This hotel seems to be a very local Chinese hotel. Room was generally clean and has a very hard bed. There was large variety of food for breakfast. The free wifi in the room was with reasonably good signal. The operation of the TV in the room would be difficult for any foreigner.

I am giving this hotel an average rating which seems high, but ONLY because Chinese hotels at this price-point run the gamut from ok to horrendous. With a north-american filter on, I would rate this as poor at best. This is regrettably my second time staying at this hotel. It is close to the Fuzhou performing arts centre, just across a small bridge and waterway that clearly serves as a sewage drain for the neighbourhood. Do not breathe deeply when exiting the hotel. Atypical mom-pop shops to buy snacks, beer, cigarettes, right out the door. The rooms are dated, average sized, with two twin beds. The mattresses are rock hard. Old-school unintuitive controls on the bedside table for lights, television. Two english options on the tube. CNN and a station that plays Top Gear on rotation 24-7. Wifi is ok and free. My neighbour began smoking at 5am every morning and the smoke billowed into my room. I take the cigarette smoke as a given in China, but it was particularly annoying here. The room's air-conditioning unit was surrounded in a stain I could only assume was mold or exhaust. See pic. It barely blew cool on high. The washroom was small, my tub was rusted, dirty. There is an option on the shower that suggests if you use the hot water, it is being sourced from a hot-spring and how to use it for health. Looking out the window, and particularly at the sewage river outside, this is laughable but strangely entertaining. English is virtually non-existent in this level of hotel, so bring a dictionary with translations in Chinese character. (Pinyin) The only saving grace here is the breakfast, which has a surprising selection of options. Cook making greasy eggs to order, congees, lots of veggies, fruit and baked goods. There is a spa next door, which is actually above-board and quite professional but is not affiliated. I suspect I will never return to Fuzhou for a third time, but if I must, there are other hotels with many more stars nearby.
