We were in Lanzhou for 2 days, and wanted a hotel close to the train station, as we had several train trips before and after our stay. The hotel is great value-much less expensive than the "Western" hotels in the city. The lobby and rooms are in like new condition. The room and bathroom were very clean. Only issue was the room was too hot (In January) and we were unable to cool it. My tips: Book and pay online before arriving, as they only take China credit cards. And, the staff have limited English speaking skills. Venture to the local food markets-the night marked has excellent food that is very affordable.

The hotel is located very close to Lanzhou Railway Station and buses will connect directly to the South Bus Station and the West Railway Station. Don't be confused by the listing here on TripAdvisor, as there is no 'south' railway station. The hotel is on a busy street, but it's quiet and very accessible. You can walk to the night market and there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. It's a bus ride to the yellow river and the various parks and temples in the city, but an easy one. The staff at the hotel are very nice and welcoming, but none of them speak a word of English. Use your translator app if you have any issues. They'll do the same. The hotel is modern, new, fresh and very clean. The rooms may be a bit spartan, but they're standard IBIS features and very modern. The linens are spotless and the beds very comfortable. There is excellent free WIFI and a TV. However, there is no closet or anywhere to hang clothes and no safe or security box. There's a kettle, tea and 1.1L of free water per day. The bathrooms have large walk in showers with excellent hot water pressure and all the normal amenities, although housekeeping kept forgetting to put soap in the room. The towels aren't in great shape, but are clean enough. Breakfast is usually included and is served in a modern Internet cafe on the ground floor, but most of what's on offer suits the Chinese tastes. There is toast and eggs, together with some fruit, but pretty much all is geared to the Asian audience. The coffee is awful. On one day, they couldn't cope with the number of guests (no more than 12!!!!!) and food ran out and everywhere was a horrible, dirty mess. However, the next day was fine. Seems hit and miss. You'll get a great rate at this property and as it's so close to the main station, it's very handy. Direct buses will take you everywhere you'd want to go in the city. A very good stay.
