“A good place to stay in Dongguan”

To summerize - a very good expirience. A nice clean luxuary hotel with a very good team. the team did all possible to support and help and Ms. Liz Zheng the marketing and Sales director did without requesting the extra mile to make stay nicer.

Before Covid I stayed at this hotel 3-4 days a month and was very happy with it. When I came to rebook I found it is no longer part of Pullman (or Accor Hotels) and has been rebranded 'Dongguan Qifengshan Hotel and Executive Apartments' which does not exactly trip off the tongue. I was concerned that is had been downgraded during Covid and was no longer of the same standard. I need not have worried - it has actually been upgraded - especially the breakfast area and offering. The staff were all excellent - professional, helpful and friendly - and spoke good English. There is a note at Reception explaining that they are transitioning from Pullman to another (un-decided brand) so the current hotel name is temporary. A hotel of this standard needs to be affiliated with a major brand - especially as they have no website or direct booking platform (hard to believe for a high end hotel). You have to call, email or use a 3rd party site to book (not easy as most sites still refer to Pullman and show it not available to book). Getting a direct booking platform must be a priority. It is 5 minute easy walk from the subway - which links to the DongGuan train station and directly to Hong Kong.

We had a short trip to Dongguan and stayed at this Pullman hotel. Excellent location with easy assessibility to many things around. It's more like a resort hotel but unfortunately some rooms/facilities were closed for maintenance. We planned to book an executive room and got an answer from the hotel that the executive floor was closed for refurb. In general it was a comfortable stay. If you plan to have some outdoor time by the pool and a relaxing stay, this is a good choice. But dont expect too much from F&B and service. The room we stayed at had a bit of history already but it was all very clean and spacious. Gym facilities and outdoor/indoor pools and hot tubs were some highlights of this hotel. F&B and service were somewhat dissapponting and didnt live up to the Pullman standard. A few details: 1. We saw the Japanese restaurant's All-You-Can-Eat dinner promotion pretty much everywhere in the hotel so went in person to book a table. Was told it wasn't served although it was promoted everywhere. When asked why it wasnt available while the poster of this deal was RIGHT OUTSIDE their door, we were told it just wasnt served, without other explanations. 2. Lunch buffet served at the Melody Lounge was not bad, however quite a few hot dishes served on food counter were cold already. 3. Hotel has a British-themed pub, but the only music they played there was Cantonese/Mandarin songs, which was okay but one would expect a British pub to be a little more "British"... 4. At the gym reception, when we asked for a towel, we were given a hand towel and told by receptionist that they "ran out of big towels" for shower and for outdoor sun lounges, and were further told that if we still insisted on wanting big towels, we should call hotel housekeeping and ask for towels OURSELVES - because as a hotel gym, they "were not allowed" to ask for towels even though they ran out of them in the gym. It was somewhat ridiculous. Still, after we insisted and questioned why the gym couldn't just make the call, they kindly did it and requested 2 towels. On a positive note: Thanks Minty at front desk for quickly processing our check-in and being friendly, professional and always ready to help. And thanks for the girl who went to our room to double-check room cleanliness before we got there. Also we really appreciate it a lot for the hotel's kindness to extend our check-out time so we wouldn't have to wait for a few hours at the lobby for our ride to arrive.

My experience was not bad but was underwhelming since I previously stayed at other Pullman hotels around the world, most recently in Vietnam where the service and everything was great. The staff at Pullman Dongguan Forum is partly trained but partly not trained -- for example: - At the pool, the "lifeguards" kept hovering right were we were swimming which was uncomfortable, not giving us privacy. One of them kept asking me to put on a swimming hat -- that is unnecessary and ridiculous - Room service does not speak English but when I order even in Chinese it's complicated -- it takes a long time to arrive - Front desk workers are sometimes very efficient , e.g. one guy gave me water and umbrella etc very efficiently whereas the next day they made me pay for the extra water and then still forgot to deliver it to the room, so I had to ask again. even then I received different water bottles in sizes.. These things are not huge problems but you do expect more from a Pullman, and I am writing these words with the best intentions. This is because ultimately the hotel's location and the surrounding nature and the intention is to be at least a 4 star hotel, perhaps more, and I hope it will get there but I think the key thing to work on is training of staff and consistency, and perhaps also hiring some more staff since it takes a long time to get things done. i hope to stay here again in the future.
