Of the many, many exceptional aspects of this hotel, the staff--especially the front desk staff--was the most special. During this, our first time visiting Macao, we had numerous questions, ranging from the best way to get around to whether the rooms had glass coffee mugs, and on every occasion, the staff did not hesitate to answer our questions in full, provide maps, sketch routes, make recommendations or call a taxi for us. Blake checked us in, Anthony answered a slew of questions, and Allen, Jaco, Jackie, and Joyce ensured that we got where we needed to go and were comfortable while traveling. Maria at the lobby's ice-cream stand cheerfully chatted with us and offered great recommendations. This service truly was excellent. The buffet breakfast was a true buffet, costing only 98 MOB per person per day ( ~ $8 US), and was perhaps the best food deal we found in all of Macao (which is full of great food and good deals). We have eaten at many casino buffets in the US, and what we had for breakfast each morning at the Crowne Plaza rivaled these and surpassed most. There were traditional breakfast foods like bacon, waffles, and pancakes, but also Chinese cuisine, curried dishes (chickpea, chicken), stewed, steamed, and fried vegetables, and a variety of drinks, coffees, and desserts. They even had egg tarts, Macao's signature dessert, there for the taking. Just like the front desk staff, the buffet staff was exceptional--friendly, helpful, and easy to communicate with in English. (Compare this price to the price of the buffets on the Cotai Strip!) The rooms were splendid, well-appointed, with a large closet, umbrellas for use during one's stay, comfortable bedding, and even a large bathtub with a sliding door to allow for conversation (or TV viewing) from the tub itself. We truly could not have found a better hotel at a comparable price in Macao--not even close, I imagine. It was really the customer service--from beginning to end--that made the hotel so impressive and is mostly the reason why I wanted to write such a positive review. It is clear that providing great service means a lot to the staff and management of this hotel.
