“Nice”

For my first visit in China, I was surprised to consisted tha almost no one of staff does not speak english. Very difficult to communicate. Rooms are clean, bathroom also, internet like China, no fb, no google etc. Breakfast good for chinese people, for rest very poor.

It offers nice pleasant clean rooms, bright and very silent (next to a Park and to a school Garden) but yet in the middle of a real chinese buzzing area. Good western breakfast, personnel is kind (but helas, does not speak any other language than chinese)

“Not bad hotel”

I was here actually last year, to attend my cousin's wedding. Overall, it's a good stay. But the staff couldn't speak English at all. They always spoke chinese to me, maybe because I'm Asian. The room was average, with weird wall design. I didn't know what it was exactly. Cherry blossom? The carpet was damp. I think somebody spilled the water there. But, the bathroom was clean. The food was okay, with many variety, chinese mostly. And if you're a spoon person, you definitely had to use chopstick for everything. Big spoon is only for porridge. For moslem tourist like me, it's rather hard to find halal food. Better choose vegetarian food, or ask nicely for not use pork and lard. Well, they said they didn't use them in some food. In the wedding banquet of my cousin, one of the female staff was rude. She ordered some guests to move aside the used plates. Really? This was the first time I saw this. The manner needs improvement, definitely!

“A big Bee Hive in the lobby”

After we spent a few hours in Yuanming Palace, we stayed at this hotel overnight because it’s close by. The reception lobby is not very big, but they tried to make it grand. What caught my eye was a big Bee hive right in the middle. I went to take a look behind the hive, and it’s the restaurant where we had our breakfast the next morning. The bedroom was not much and the separate beds were single size not the double size bed that I am used too. For a 4 star hotel, I didn’t expected much. I did have a good night sleep. It's common in China to stay in a Hotel and comment 'you know, five years ago if we had stayed here, it would have been nice'. Well this is that hotel of five years ago. It is obviously newly renovated and still in fair condition but the dark wood that adorns the place is getting knocked about already and starting to show a bit of wear, and the hotel in general is treading a very thin line between atmospheric and gloomy. I wouldn't recommend a visit in five years time anyway! The service was pretty non existent the few times we required it with check in and out laboriously slow. The food in the Chinese restaurant is ok but again service pretty shoddy - it took five minutes for them to understand an order for a beer and a further ten minutes to deliver it. On a further visit we arrived around 20 minutes before they closed (Bad form I know!) and proceeded to order. They then came back 20 minutes later and told us the chef had gone or something like that and asked us to pay for our tea and leave. Would have preferred they'd have told us they were closed when we arrived rather than wasting our time but meh, China. Breakfast was average, the only western option is bacon and the chinese fayre is pretty awful. They seem to change the menu each day though so you might be lucky and get the char sui buns. The hotel is in walking distance to the Temple and Lost City (closed until April) but there is not a great deal in the immediate vacinity. If going out to eat you need to walk past the temple about ten minutes away. Must be better options in Zhuhai than this though and at 400rmb a night I wasn't too impressed. Doubt I will return.
